Does MD get any bowl revenue and refund for travel expenses
We know since MD announced its departure, they owe the ACC 50 million dollars. SInce they have not paid, the ACC has not provided any funding for expenses or revenue sharing and used the money to pay their debt. This has caused huge financial cash-flow problems for MD.

Move ahead to 2013, now that MD is bowl eligible, will the ACC continue with the policy and provide no funds for bowl related travel expenses and revenue sharing???? And if they do, how does cash strapped MD get the funds to travel to the bowl game and (also meet the bowl ticket guarantees)?????

ACC send MD to El Paso and drain them.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would like to point out 2 things:

1) the ACC doesn't have any input into bowl selections until next year, and therefore cannot send anybody anywhere (yet)

2) not 100% sure, but I don't think Maryland is required to accept a bowl invitation anyway.

If I had to guess at this point, the Terps will likely be invited to the Military Bowl anyway... and they will take a bus.

yea.

here are jerry palm's projections from cbs:

here are the acc bowl matchups in this projection in selection order:

BCS Championship: Florida State VS Alabama
Orange Bowl :Clemson VS Wisconsin
Chick Fil A Bowl : Miami FL VS Missouri
Russell Athletic Bowl: Virginia Tech VS Louisville
Sun Bowl: North Carolina VS UCLA
Belk Bowl: Duke VS Houston
Music City Bowl: Syracuse VS Georgia
Independence Bowl: Georgia Tech VS Arizona(replacement for sec team)
Military Bowl: Maryland VS North Texas
Heart OF Dallas Bowl: Boston College (replacement for bigten) VS Rice

not an acc bowl tie in this year but interesting

Pinstripe Bowl: Notre Dame VS Rutgers

Regarding point #2, I know that contractually, Pitt had to accept the BBVA Compass Bowl last year. My guess is that Maryland would have to accept whatever bowl that they got as well. That said, it is hard to know whether bowl-related disbursements/expenses could be part of what the ACC is withholding. I wouldn't count on it.

I would be willing to bet the ACC will withhold every bit of revenue going to Maryland.

I don't know whether Maryland is entitled to the money or not, as some conferences have rules on withdrawing members. But even if they are entitled to it, they will be withholding the actual money as a "Credit" towards the exit fee.

Pitt should schedule the annual trip to Birmingham right now. I don't even think it's a possibility that we wind up there, but history shows us that we'll find our way there and lose in an uninspired game after the national championship has already been played.
