I think it was weak for him to change the name of the award in the first place...

Yes it was very weak for him to change the award but it is just a rookie mistake so hopefully he has learned from it.

I agree, it was very weak. When I heard about it on ESPN radio, my first thought was he is going to regret doing that. Shula is young, hopefully he learned a lesson...don't mess with tradition and until he wins a few titles don't mess with the old heros.
By the way, I think he did a pretty good job last season, despite the circumstances.

What is your opinion on having something still named after Logan Young on your campus?

Young's name still on Bryant center room
Disassociated University of Alabama booster Logan Young still has a room named after him at the university's Bryant Conference Center.
Young was one of three UA boosters disassociated from the university as part of the NCAA sanctions in February of 2002. UA Athletics Director Mal Moore said the room was named for Young long before the sanctions were placed on the university.
"To be truthful, I know there is a room named after Logan but it was done way back," Moore said. "That has no effect on the NCAA ruling. His disassociation was from that point forward."
Young is not allowed to contribute money to the university and the Tide Pride program or buy season tickets from the university.
Moore said he was not sure how much Young contributed during the building of the facility but believes it was "right at the end of Coach (Paul) Bryant's career when he made that contribution." Bryant retired after the 1982 season.
The room is one of several small conference rooms at the Bryant Conference Center. The center is a division of the UA's College of Continuing Studies.

I find it kind of odd myself - i would think that removing his name from anything on University property would be included in dis-association (or whatever the legal term is)

The reason Logan Young has a building still named after him is because I still do not believe Mal Moore has figured out that he payed players and got us in trouble. It is time for a new athletic director I believe.
