Yea that's a good point. Pretty much regardless of who UC schedules to open the 2015 season, the excitement of a renovated Nippert will basically ensure a sell out.

Fifth Third Arena (then known only as Shoemaker Center) opened with a top 25 ranked Minnesota team and I don't think we had 10,000 in the house. Completely different circumstances I know--Cincy was coming off years of poor to average b-ball teams and had a new coach. That's different than the currently successful football program. But I'm also amazed that our biggest game of the season and final conference tilt against Louisville wasn't sold out weeks ago.

10,000 was a HUGE number compared to any of the games I had been at in the previous five years (Crosstown Shootouts and some Louisville games being the exceptions, of course).

Interesting question. I would say no. UC was playing in relative obscurity at the Cincinnati Gardens and interest was at an all-time low. We (alumni/season ticket holders) were excited to get a shiny new 13,000 seat arena that brought basketball back to campus but I'm not sure the city/metro area cared much.

This preceded the rebuilding of the entire campus. Wow--UC has come a long way since then--academics, enrollment, campus aesthetics, athletic profile and I have to say the greater Cincy area is much more engaged with UC than ever before. So there is great reason for optimism--despite not having the Louisville game sold out yet. And it will sell out.

UCF and USF. They started much lower than us, and are now close to where we are in many respects.

I would scratch USF off that list and put Houston on there. Houston has done a complete overhaul of their campus much like our Master Plan. They are building a new on campus stadium and have built other nice athletic facilities. They have invested a ton into their academics as well and continue to move up in the various rankings.

USF on the other hand has not done as much in campus aestheics and athletic facilities as UC and UH. Their football team is everybody's favorite to be the "sleeping giant" but has yet to come close to getting there. UH football on the other hand has won at a much higher clip the past 6-7 years and has beaten programs like Penn State and UCLA.

Three road games on the schedule in 2019, something isn't sticking. Lets assume the new contract with Boise State is locked in, the Buckeyes moved the 2018 to 2019, does that game get rescheduled again. Or does UC convince Miami to say goodbye to Oxford and play in Cincinnati. I am actually hoping its the last one.

Also, the 2020 non-conference schedule is now booked with

Sounds like the days of playing an FCS school are going by the way of the dinosaur. I know the B10 was intent on doing it (although Minnesota and Iowa are balking) and I think some others have raised the position.

I'll be interested to see where both programs are at that point in time. I got a chance to check out the smurf turf when I was in boise for work a year or two ago. Nothing remarkable about the stadium aside from the turf in my opinion, but they're definitely passionate about their team. Too bad there's not an easy or cheap way to get out there...

One thing about Boise.... they have survived coaching changes over the past 15 years (Dirk Koetter, Dan Hawkins, Peterson). Their new coach is an alum and is an up and coming HC. That being said, he might not be there by the time we play them in 2019.

I have heard that this coming season will be the last time we play osu. My bet is that game is removed from the schedule.

A great quote from the person who canceled a game with TCU while at Tech then told the media they "weren't the type of team we need to be playing right now". He is an expert on tucking and running though. *edit* I'll even include the full quote straight off ESPN so you can all see how full of **** he is:

"I've been in this business a while," the always straight-shooting Tuberville said. "Obviously, for us, we're going to be a very young team coming in. Gary's [Patterson] done a great job. He's done an excellent job of bringing in players and building depth and building consistency. That's really probably not the type of team we want to play right now."

I hope he grows a pair and takes up Kliff and TTU on our open offer to play someday. We would have to get a new scoreboard with a third digit first.

Not really. Bit of a novelty but that was about it until they won the 1st one. There are 68,000 people in town who say they attended that one now.
