See, it's talk like that which is exactly why we can't be a rivalry.

MD2 has Rocket envy...no one is quite sure why though, perhaps its the mascot.

See there. If a poster from that other school had attempted a joke, it would have gotten a  Can't be a rivalry. Just doesn't have the feeling.

A tornado, heads toward Dekalb. Toledo packs up supplies and people and sends them for relief. A tornado, heads towards BG. Toledo packs up supplies and people and sends them to sit in their lawn chairs on the hill, uh, curb overlooking BG to watch fly the houses, their wicked witch and their little dogs too.

Before the game against NIU, we post cute dog pictures. Before BG, we do the same but they're called "co-eds."

Sorry, we like you. No one here has any distaste for you. You are significant. We wish you the best. We just want to win the game.

This team endured a lot of adversity, when you start with two losses, no matter who they are to, it plays on a teams mind.

Loosing Flu and having 2 or 3 backs step up is mind boggling.

Leading the nation in sacks allowed, including against 2 SEC teams is unbelievable.

I'm sorry, I know my post are very pro team and coaches. But many posters forget the team across the line of scrimmage practices and works hard too.

Let's appreciate what this team does even in criticizing them.

Oh darn, there goes my soapbox.

I think your post is spot on. We have great coaches and players. Go Rockets! !!

Got a good feeling about this game!!!
Just like in 2005. Bruce wasn't going to let you guys down on Sr. night.

And Boom Goes the Dynamite

NIU has dominated Toledo the past several years, I would think that would be enough reason for a rivalry.

Not even close- you've won in football lately, volleyball, maybe a couple other sports. No one comes over talking about those sports or basketball, track etc where we win regularly. There is back and forth with BG fans on ALL those sports. That's what a rival is.

haha you know its bad when you have to dig as deep as track to explain a rivalry. Have fun being the champs of the world in the 200 meter dash, Ill take an Orange Bowl appearance over that.

Disagree, I think H2O explained it pretty well - all sports including mens and womens basketball that, believe it or not, rival football in intensity between UT and BG.

I agree. This is why UT-NIU isn't a rivalry - the only sport we don't like each other in is football. We hate bgSUCKS in every sport - MBB, WBB, XC, track, etc.

1 BCS bowl appearance where you lose quite convincingly does not mean you belong with the best. The appearance in itself is awesome, no doubt, but a win in that appearance would make this conversation way more liable.

I just hope the players were watching the BSU - NIU game when the announcers kept talking about IF the Huskies beat BSU - they would have a better work of accomplishment than Fresno State and would likely get the BCS buster bowl. They (Desmond Howard) went on to say NIU was better than Fresno because of their wins over Iowa and Purdue and that BSU was better than both of them, therefore the win over BSU was going to be their biggest win of the year and the season - and except for the MACC game they will have already accomplished enough to pass Fresno State.

Hear that Toledo - you are considered a non-entity and a non-contender.

BTW - the last Huskie win in Toledo was built on the basis of piss poor kick coverage and a coach who refused to use his time outs. The final was 63-60. It remains the worse game I have witnessed in the Glass Bowl of any must-win games played there. Thank God it got Beckman a new gig, because he flat out blew that game.

Glad you mentioned this. I noticed this as well and it was pissing me off. I don't even recall them mentioning Toledo once or even showing their upcoming schedule. Poor coverage by ESPN...particularly when this big game will be on their freaking network the following week! Don't worry Desmond, we aren't falling for the banana in the tailpipe!

NIU fans, all 9 of them, are merely upset that they play second fiddle in the Chicagoland area to schools smaller and that have NO national exposure. I see more College of Dupage and Elmhurst College shirts around here than NIU shirts.

If NIU plays its best football. And Toledo plays its best football.
I think I take NIU in this one.

On the other hand. If Toledo brings their "A" game and NIU is anything other than at the top of their game maybe Toledo wins.

No fair, their shirts are cheaper.

And I assume if Toledo has more than 9 fans, they must have been at the basketball game, because they certainly weren't at the football game.

Well the Huskies will beat your a** in men's and women's hoops this year. You can't hold our jock straps or bra straps. Oh yeah, and Lynch would beat you throwing left handed and running backwards. Go HUSKIES! 04-cheers

I guess we'll all know by about 12:30 AM (EST) on Thursday, 11/21. GO ROCKETS!!!

12:30 A.M.? Jesus, how many commercial breaks and overtimes are we planning on here?03-lmfao

If you are running in a crowd that wears COD and Elmhurst College shirts, I'd suggest you up the quality of your friends. May I suggest a new tier of friends from Lewis University or Northeastern Illinois?

If you make that work, I know a guy who took six years to get a P.E degree from UIC, and he's always lonely.

That is how it goes with all MAC schools once you have a drop off from a great year or two. ESPN doesnt care that much about the MAC. NIU is getting a lot of press right now, but once Lynch graduates and NIU is a good team like Toledo they wont care that much about them either. It really is a shame but that is how it is.
