I'm a little "WTF" about FSU not picking up any of the west coast...

And I still wonder what that looks like next year with NJ and MD in the Big Ten.

Pennsylvania went ACC this week...not so sure MD/Ruttie will always deliver those states for the B1G...it'll depend on matchups

I think when you add MD and NJ to PA you probably see the ACC split in half.

That is what Mr. Delaney is hoping. Thankfully we have reverse mirror. I agree the B1G will get PA and MD most of the time. NYC will be interesting...

Even though Rutgers sucks in just about every sport: I'd rather not have them in the B1G.

That is Cuse's fault...if we didn't get blown out by GTech and and actually beat a beatable Penn State we would be 6-3 and more likely to carry more territory. TV execs are just afraid this game will be 35-3 or 42-7 in the first half.

Not sure this is true though, PSU is already in the league and you've got a marquee B1G game between Michigan St. and Nebraska but all of PA still holds for the ACC even when Pitt isn't involved.

I don't care about reverse mirrors. The games on ABC draw better ratings.

So once you throw PA border states NJ and MD into the Big Ten mix, it makes it less likely PA stays ACC in these scenarios.

I think the reason PA went to the ACC instead of the B1G this time is because of FSU's ranking. It's the SEC effect, only this time it's working for the ACC - higher rated team wins overlapping states. ACC just needs to keep having the higher-rated teams (vs. the B1G - which is very do-able, IMO)

No one in the east cares about Michigan State and Nebraska. I don't see that changing going forward. But it is about matchups and name brand. If Michigan or Penn State were playing, it'd go the other way.

And that is the real damage done by Maryland leaving. Not actually losing Maryland, but letting the Big Ten into MD and NJ. That might be worth $52 million.

If you live outside the natural ACC Footprint you do.

I agree, it was much worse for the ACC than people want to admit. It's also why I strongly advocated for UConn to get an invite. Football success is cyclical, institutional fit and markets are not. I'm thrilled Louisville is in the ACC because I think they fit too but it definitely hurts losing that New York through mid-Atlantic presence.

I understand the point, but let's be honest here, the BiG already had a foothold into MD, NJ, and NY due to PSU and to a lesser extent Michigan.

Having the flagships of Maryland and New Jersey helps magnify the issue, but only if the Terps and the Scarlet Knights do well. If they flounder, games like MSU vs Nebraska will still lose out to a highly rated FSU, Miami, Clemson, or VT vs a decent SU or Pitt.

So, if Maryland and Rutgers do decently in the BiG, BiG games will be shown in the northeast. If not, then it will come down to who PSU (or at times Michigan) is playing versus who a highly rated FSU, Clemson, Miami, or VT is playing, not to mention a good Pitt or SU team at home vs. a ranked ND game.

Cheers,
Neil

Yeah, I think we pretty much agree on those points.

This is good news overall. It's amazing this game even has ABC coverage as it should be a horrible game. Syracuse definitely did their part with a winning record so far.

FSU has had games recent games against WF and NC State be over in the first quarter. I don't care who's playing, no network is going to love that. I'm glad we've got enough juice to overcome that as much as we have with this game.

I was visiting NYC the last time FSU and Syracuse played, and the ABC feed there was if I remember correctly, USC-Arizona state.

East?
No one here in the Midwest cares about them either. Here in Indiana no one follows Big Ten football. Most Hoosiers root for Notre Dame when it comes to football.
