That new hand check rule is atrocious. Bryant barely touched the kid. What is he supposed to do, back off and let the guy go right by him?

So dumb, I felt the same watching Kentucky MSU game the other night. It will slow down the game so much.

And Riley fouled out. Might not be a bad thing tonight. Ajayi has been much better.

Talley is a tremendous passer. Drives with his head up. Two great finds to Bryant.

RE: EMU vs. Robert Morris
Great win.
We have a lot to improve on but still great job by the Eagles.
Love Ajayi and Ward. Talley and Lee will be good for us as well.
If Riley and Harrison do not step up this team will be okay. If they do we have a chance to make some noise.
Up next: CSU team that will be traveling to us from Texas. Another winnable game.

RE: EMU vs. Robert Morris
Very nice win, especially after the horrendous start.
Ray Lee had an exciting 21 points, but my player of the game is Karrington Ward, who got his first career double-double with 18 and 12 boards, hitting 12/14 from the free throw line. Ajayi and Bryant were tremendous defensively.
One thing worth noting: we won despite hitting only one 3-pointer the entire game. That's outstanding. Last year we were so jump shot reliant. This team attacks the rim, and I love that. Should be an exciting year, if nothing else.

One more thing: This was a good team we beat today. While they are somewhat of a low major, they have the guns to beat decent teams, as we saw last year when they beat Kentucky. Most of the guys from that team are back this season. They also knocked off Ohio last year too.

Just wanted to give some perspective to the team we were up against. I don't think we come close to winning this game with our team from last season. Definite improvement, and I credit Murphy for finally being able to run some semblance of a real offense.

RE: EMU vs. Robert Morris
I really like this.
How can a team which adds Talley, Lee, Ward, and Ajayi not be good??
As someone mentioned we won this game with athleticism, not the long bomb.

I agree.
We're the class of the West, and we might be able to give the big boys in the East a run.

RE: EMU vs. Robert Morris
nice win! it was great to see the team react to adversity in the first 10 minutes, make adjustments on offense and defense, and then go on a great run for ~20 minutes. i would have liked to see them close out the game without allowing RMU to get within 2 points, but like Sam said, it's a game we would have lost handily last year. my thoughts on some of the players:
Ajayi - great athleticism, fire and rebounding. raw offensively and constantly out of position defensively. i'd guess Mondro is working overtime on Ajayi's defense.
Lee - so unbelievably quick with the ball. if he can improve his handle just a bit, he'll be a scoring machine. i love that he has a midrange game to go with his ability to get to the hoop. he also had some nice steals, including that one on the fast break in the second half (i think he took the ball from #22, but i can't remember for sure).
Talley - rough first half. he couldn't seem to find his game, but that was true for most of the team during those first ten minutes. in the second half he showed some nice glimpses of a guy who can run an effective offense. nice defense all game.
Ward - this guy is so insanely competent in every facet of the game. he has incredible awareness, great rebounding, good scoring touch, good defense.....i think he'll be our team MVP this year.
Riley - one of his worst games for EMU. not sure what was going on there
Combs - i don't see him staying in the rotation for very long. i'd much rather have Sims' D out there.

Students were great last night. Lot of them.
Might we have a better crowd Monday for CLE St?
We have a real chance to build some fan excitement this year...
