Kilpatrick passes Jones, Gates on UC’s scoring list
Kilpatrick passes Jones, Gates on UC’s scoring list
11/13/13 at 11:47am by Bill Koch

With 43 points in UC’s first two games, Sean Kilpatrick has moved up from No. 16 to No. 14 on UC’s career scoring list. His 21 points Tuesday against North Carolina State gave him 1,487 for his career. He has passed Dwight Jones, who scored 1,451 points from 1980-83 and Yancy Gates, who scored 1,485 points from 2009-12. Next in Kilpatrick’s sights is Robert Miller, who scored 1,498 points from 1975 to 1978.

UC has now won its last three games against teams from the ACC. The Bearcats beat Florida State in the NCAA Tournament in 2012 to advance to the Sweet 16 and knocked off Maryland 69-57 in Maui on Nov. 24, 2009. UC’s last loss to an ACC team was to Florida State, 58-47, on Nov. 28, 2008.

I like the stat about 3-0 against the ACC, but granted that 3 games in 4 years is not much history. Nonetheless, maybe this should part of Santa Ono's Christmas message to his ACC President colleagues?

Sean has a good chance at ending his career as the number 2 scorer in school history.

Mick has a great quote about SK it was something like "he can score 10 points just falling out of bed".

He's been quiet about averaging 20+ points. You look at the stats after the game and are like "wow." It shows he is letting the game come to him and not forcing it like he did last year. I had my doubts, but it looks like he is really going to up his game to the next level.

UC's list doesn't quite seem to agree with the rankings...doesn't have Gates on there at all...is it just out of date? Is there a more accurate list somewhere?

That list has not been updated in several years. At least Yancy and Deonta Vaughn are not on there. I believe Dion DIxon and Cash were over 1ooo as well.

SK needs to average just over 16.5 pts this year to pass Logan. Well on his way with a 22 and 21 pt game start.

He'll only need to average about 53 a game to get to Oscar, lol. Crazy that for anyone to pass Oscar, they'll have to average 22 per game for four years. Oscar will forever be #1

And didn't he do it in 3 years? If so, that's remarkable.

Yup, only 3 years. Guy was a freak. Oh, and no 3 pt line.

No kidding - and you look at his per game averages in basically every category and --> 04-jawdrop

Its hard to imagine how his numbers were even possible. It must have looked like the other players were in slow motion.

Yep, and he was mocked pretty significantly on here for saying that.

Of course in his 4 years here, his lowest ppg was basically 10 and that was in just 20 mpg.
