I would prefer a clean slate without any connection to English.

Just an observation not many high school coaches make a successful jump from being a high school coach to a Div I college coach.

Wheatley is with the Bills right as RB coach? What is his current salary as an NFL assistant?

What's the story with these two names the News mentioned as candidates?

Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler, Northern Iowa head coach Mark Farley

Loeffler went to Michigan and has been a QB coach/offensive coordinator all over the place. Supposedly a "QB guru", but that can be debated. Has coached the likes of Chad Henne and Tim Tebow.

He has ties to the area and brings an up-tempo offense, but I don't know how he'd do as a head coach.

Surprised it took this long for Loeffler's name to be mentioned here. He seems to bounce around a lot which make you wonder what his career path really is.

If Wheatley gets the job, I am going to start a kick-starter fund to hire back Ron English. Yeah, Wheatley is that big of a joke

OMG, this guy is a joke. I think I'll apply for the job and self-promote. The article might read something like this:

"EMUDirtyBird has no coaching or playing experience at the pop-warner, high school, collegiate, or professional level but has performed exceptionally well in the NCAA 2K series where he has turned perenial doormat Eastern Michigan University into six time BCS national champions. EMUDirtyBird says 'Success begats success. What I did was I turned the level to beginner my first year, got some studs and 4 stars and then turned it up to medium. Also what I do is if I am losing a game, I will restart the old X-Box and bring the difficulty level down to beginner again so I can get that undefeated season.'"
