Marshall at Tulsa predictions
Interesting game.
Marshall has dominated bad teams. They have dominated at home. They have played very poorly on the road, with the exception of V. Tech. On paper, Marshall destroys Tulsa, but they have never played even a moderately good game in that stadium. Lots of people think the "75" helmet matters, but I think most 21 year olds don't really care that much. I also think this "new" QB Tulsa is playing looks somewhat promising, and Watts is probably the best back in the conference. Don't know what happened to the D, but they better strap it on for this one. Marshall's run D struggles with big backs, not typically with smaller ones like Watts.
I'm guessing this game comes down to mistakes. If Marshall makes them, they will lose. If Marshall plays clean, they will destroy Tulsa.
Clean Marshall game: 42-28 Marshall.
Ugly Marshall game: 34-31 Tulsa, with Doc Holliday making a huge mistake down the stretch.
Coin flip...but I'll be able to call it within the first 10 minutes of the game.

Marshall should win this game fairly easily….Tulsa is just not a good team this year. They have some of the parts and pieces needed to be a good team but just too many holes right now. One area where I think they could exploit Marshall will be in the run game. Watts is one hell of a back and they are big up front on the offensive line. If they can run the ball consistently then I could see them staying in the game with a chance to win it late…Thursday night games on the road with a short week of prep can present problems as well. If Marshall can control Tulsa's run game and not have one of "those" games on the road mid-week then it should not be close.

Marshall easy. No offense to Tulsa, but they lack speed in the skill positions. The team looked big and physical, it just seemed that there were no playmakers outside of the RB.

Marshall will easily cover the spread (12.5) IMO. Your offense will have a field day. Watts is very good, but he is about all they have on offense. Evans looked good at the start against ECU but then completely fell apart.

Whatever you do Marshall, don't run up the score with a late interception.

I was going to say! Oddest prediction I've seen in a LONG time. If Marshall only scores 17, they have NO CHANCE of winning.

Dude. Tulsa is 103rd nationally allowing 34 PPG on defense. How in God's Holy Name does their defense "dominate" Marshall's offense? I'm not saying its impossible, just that I'd look for cows to fly before that to happen. Hell, that's less than we scored against V. Tech on the road in a monsoon without Kevin Grooms.

RE: Marshall at Tulsa predictions
Tulsa is really bad and Marshall should roll, but until proven otherwise:
Doc Holliday + "On the Road" = Tough game for Marshall.
Tulsa can run the ball pretty good, so if they stay on the field then this one might be close.

RE: Marshall at Tulsa predictions
It will be 7-3 Tulsa at the half with a late Devon Smith Punt Return to take the lead. Marshall will punt it more this game then all others combined. I just can not see Marshall scoring over 30 in this game.

Can't necessarily disagree on the broad point, but I really struggle with Tulsa holding us below our point total at VT in a monsoon, without Grooms or Butler.
I just hope it's not "one of THOSE games."

We are not a good road team. Period. Until they prove me wrong, I'm going to be nervous about any game on the road. This is going to be tough.

Basically, if we play clean, we destroy Tulsa. If ugly, we lose to Tulsa close. Agree?

Tulsa can give Marshall a game if they don't turn the ball over. If they do?...Marshall wins by 21+

Marshall at Tulsa predictions
The Marshall O has been consistent on the road. It's the Defense that has struggled to get off the field. Special teams have been a little shaky on the road too.
The Defense at home has given up 10 points a game in 5 games. They've allowed 34 points a game in 4 games on the road.
Huge difference and incredibly frustrating.
I don't care what anyone says, Tulsa is still Tulsa and we're 0-4 against them since joining C-USA. I have a feeling I'll be holding my breath through much if this one.

Tulsa will give Marshall all it handle up until kick-off.
From that point on, Marshall rolls.

I like your confidence! Hope it rubs off on our D, Special Teams (yes, in the Jerry Lewis sense of the word special) and Coach Holliday!
