I'll be really interested to watch the games this week. I always say as a basketball coach you see your most improvement a lot of times between the 1st and 2nd games. Can't wait to watch Creighton tomorrow night, even if it's against UMKC. Then Tuesday- the Xavier/Tennessee game is one that I'm really looking forward to. And of course Saturday- the Ohio St/Marquette game is a big one- along with Creighton at St Joe's, and Princeton/Butler- 2 games that I think are really dangerous.

RE: this week
looking at 1st weekend numbers
last year- 13-2 avg ppg 71.1. avg papg 56.5. wins vs Michigan St and San Diego St. but 2 bad losses by USF and Rutgers
last year- just using us:
10-0 first weekend avg ppg 79.5 avg papg 58.7.
this year-
8-2 first weekend avg ppg 82.8 avg papg 66.9 2 losses to top 25 schools

kind of interesting just how much our scoring is up this year- both for and against.

Providence and Creighton scored more on Fri than they did all last year
Xavier, Seton Hall and DePaul had only 1 game last year where they scored more than they did 1st game this year.

it will be very interesting to see if this trend continues. To have half of the teams to either have high games or 2nd highest game compared to last year is pretty stark. To see our defense going down by 8.2 points per game is pretty bad sign though.

RE: this week
Isn't one of the objectives of this " new rule" aka calling more fouls, to increase sscoring?

RE: this week
yes. however, to have half the schools having either top games or more than all but 1 is pretty stark. Only Marquette didn't score at least 75 points.

Ohio State may be the most underrated team in the country.

But we did break our school record with 53 FT attempts!

lol. it'll be interesting to see this week as we get 2nd/3rd games to see if the coaches/players make an adjustment seeing the rule not going away. last night watching Temple/Kent St 1st half- it was pretty free flowing. A lot of fouls- but almost all were ones that are called last year.

RE: this week
holy cow, watching the Hoya's game and actually seeing them putting a team out of their misery fast tonight and actually pressing and pushing the tempo. Don't let Cinderella hang around the ball early. Hope we keep that up and especially if we get to the tourney and play a 13/14 seed.
