We pulled our starting skill guys after two possessions in the third when it went 49-14. We only scored once in the last 21 minutes and that's only because our third string back broke a 60 yard run. Same deal with USM. We pulled all the starters with over 20 minutes left.

I was surprised you still had your starters in on a drive late in the 4th quarter.

A lot of reserves were in, but Carden has to play or else we have to burn a redshirt because his backup (Cody Keith) is out with an injury.

It should also be pointed out that midway through the 4th it was only an 18 point game.

Not exactly your average pull every starter type of margin.

RE: Longest return in ECU history to finish Tulsa off in style!
Marshall fans have become the biggest bunch of whiners. Nobody needs to justify to them why our only healthy non-redshirt QB was in the game, or why a freshman backup corner ran back an interception at the end of the game. Like said above. there is about 30 milliseconds for this kids instincts to kick in.

Looking forward to the ECU v Marshall game. Have a lot of respect for the Marshall program and hope the game lives up to all our expectations (mine being a Pirate victory)

Win our lose, I promise not to be a whiney little girl like some of the Herd fans have become on here.

While the final score appeared to be a huge blowout this was a competitive game into the 4th quarter. Late in the 4th we did have a lot of reserves in the game. The reason for Carden still being in the game has already been explained.

It is just a matter of a few Marshall fans being so insecure about their own team that they have to find a way to try and knock ECU…It makes them feel better. To me it is nonsense because they have a good team and should just focus on their own team and enjoy the season.

They are good enough to beat us for sure and I can say that...Some of the Marshall fans can not stand the fact that we may be the better and team and could beat them so they have to try to find issues with ECU to validate their team.

Most of the Marshall fans on this board are ok just like most of the ECU fans…It is just a few on each side that like to try and take a shot at the other team any chance they can…Really gets old reading all the bickering.

Actually, all I did was ask a question. It's the supreme insecurity of ECU fans that lead them to take it the wrong way. I asked when you pulled your starters and why Carden was still in. That's it. I didn't watch the game and certainly don't follow your reserve injury chart. Why not just answer instead of acting all butthurt?

Go back and read my post without your "everybody is against ECU" glasses on.

No, it is your freaking thread history with East Carolina fans that caused everyone to jump on your question.

Ok well you know why for Tulsa by now (game was somewhat in question, might try to preserve Benkert's redshirt).

USM - We pulled our starters after the first 2 drives of the 3rd quarter (7:00 remaining in the 3rd). Scored 10 points with backups.

UAB - We haven't played them yet.

On offense we couldn't pull the QB since the backup is hurt and the replacement still has his redshirt. We really do not have any skill players as starters as you tell by how many different receivers caught ball (9-11 I believe)and the we utilized a three running back rotation. We did pull a lot of starters on defense in the secondary but then again we utilize so much depth in our front seven and utilize that depth in rotation during the game that we really do not have any starters per se.

East, thanks.

PG, I didn't expect you to notice, but I backed off my Marshall/ECU battles with certain of your posters over 2 weeks ago (even though I did just question SJ in another thread where he said even if Marshall upsets ECU, ECU will still have had the superior season. I just don't understand how if we both end up 9-3 and we win the east how he sees your season as superior. Just curious how he gets that).

Find it kind of odd that you ask a "question" and we respond then you call it being butt hurt. Yet if an ECU poster would of asked that same "question" then we are starting a pissing match.

Next time do a little research before you open your mouth.

Defensive player in no way should have taken a knee. If Marshall player picked off pass and did not try to score I would be pi$$ed no matter what score is.

We know it was a solid play. The ones that say they don't, do know. It's just another easy way to rile you guys up and you fall for it every time. If you didn't have an army of posters here that jumped every time the MU fans would get bored of trying to get your goat. As it stands, it's pretty entertaining.

Few more weeks...then it'll be settled. Provided we can win twice on the road. No easy feat for the Herd.

Sounds like a pretty pathetic thing to do in coal country.

We are so glad we can provide such valuable entertainment to your fans on here.....Epic Applause

as to Banker's main question.....well let's see here...it was 35-17 going into the 4th quarter...game still some what in doubt with all of that time left to go...Tulsa goes 3 and out, and we cause a sack fumble recovery on the Tulsa 7. 3 QB keepers for Shane makes it 42-17. Tulsa then goes 3 and out.

Now 11:54 to go in the 4th Q. At that point, our staff had a choice to make. They could have brought in our true freshman QB Kurt Benkert (who is our top backup at the present time) for the rest of the game, thus pulling his redshirt. But, they decided it really wasn't worth it at that point. So, Carden stayed in. Screen pass left. Screen pass right...uh oh......Tulsa blows it up...scoop and score TD for them....now it's 42-24...11:08 to go....still a ball game.....Carden definitely wasn't going to leave at that point...we then go on a 16 play, 73 yard, 6:12 drive and get a FG to make it 45-24 with 4:56 to go. Again...no reason to put in Benkert at that point with such little time to go. 1st play for Tulsa...we INT their screen pass and return it to their 9 yard line. Run up the middle by our backup RB for 4 yards...then playaction quickie over the middle pass to BRYCE WILLIAMS for the 5 yard TD to make it 52-24

btw Bryce currently has 13 catches for 141 yards and 3 TD's so far this season....so he is contributing for us......

I have always been complimentary of the Marshall program. I can not help but have a soft spot for it. I was at the game in Greenville before the crash. Even though I was a youngster...I remember the event like it was yesterday and have the utmost respect for Marshall University.

Good luck the rest of the season... and in the future....04-cheers
