UCF crushing some BCS Dreams
The New AP poll is out and UCF jumps 4 spots to #15 and ahead of Fresno and Northern Illinois, it is not the kind of signs the little guys needed - if they jump in the human polls, they'll likely jump in the BCS.

AP Poll Ranking 11/10

A lot of UCF fans want Fresno to stay ahead of us, since the Sugar bowl would be a much better destination compared to the Fiesta

UGH, AAC Champion is AQ and has No effect on the non AQ schools in top 14. AAC champ is in regardless.

We know. But where UCF is ranked effects Fresno or NIUs chances at a BCS bowl. I want Fresno to stay in the picture because it puts UCF in a more preferable BCS bowl.

Was just explaining the exact same thing to some friends of mine. Our fans are much more likely to travel in numbers to New Orleans or Miami rather than cross country to Arizona.

Too early to be worrying about that though, UCF still has some tough tests to get through first.

Word of advice and I am sure GOL is preaching this to his players....for this year don't worry about rankings...only to continue to win on the Field...

As for Louisville...the only thing we can do is continue to win...3 More American Games and the Bowl Game....Standard and Goal is to go 4-0...UCF Goal is to go 5-0...the only thing that truly matters...07-coffee3

Well deserved. A resume with wins @Penn St (5-4), @Louisville (8-1), and Houston (7-2) is more impressive than anything NIU and especially Fresno have done. A 3-point loss to a Top 10 SCar team isn't much of a negative, either.

I would rather Fresno State and Northern Illinois not make the BCS at all... don't they have to be ranked ahead of the AQ champions to get in?

I think this is a good sign for the G5 bowl spot in coming years that a one loss American team has jumped ahead of an undefeated MountainWest and MAC team

I believe the rule is if a non-AQ team is in the BCS top 12 they are in no matter what. If they are not in the top 12, but they are in the top 16 AND they are ranked ahead of an AQ champion, then they are in (replaces a BCS at large, not an AQ). If a non-AQ does not get in, then an AQ conference sends a second team (based on BCS rank of course).

So, if Fresno was 11th they are in
If they are 15th and the AAC champ is 16th, they are in as well. This will affect where the AAC champ goes, but does not remove our AQ slot.

We should all be rooting for UCF the rest of the season.

Perception drives reality.

UCF will enter next year ranked. We need Houston, Cinn, and ECU to finish strong. ECU will end up ranked if they win CUSA and win the Liberty Bowl. Houston beats Louisville, UC and wins its bowl game they finish ranked.

Tulsa will enter next season in the bottom 10. Someone shoot me.

You do realize the AP is the one poll not part of the BCS? UCF is behind Louisville, Fresno and NIU in the BCS poll. Not that it matters for UCF since it gets an AQ for this year. But unless Louisville loses, it appears they will finish ahead of UCF in the final BCS rankings which NIU and Fresno will be thrilled about.

Actually they didn't at all. Both Fresno St and Northern Illinois were ahead of UCF in the BCS poll that came out tonight. Also, Louisville is way behind. Most of the computers don't even have Louisville in the top 25. Don't get too excited for the AAC just yet because it appears the computers don't like the league.

No...more than likely they hate Louisville OOC Schedule this year...UCF, Houston and others have some very good OOC Opponents in the coming years

No way Fresno or NIU should be ranked ahead of UCF but I hope that one finishes ahead of us so we go to Miami or Nawlins if we win out.

Maybe, maybe not. The AP poll isn't used for BCS rankings so it doesn't actually mean anything at moment. The coaches poll and computer polls are what currently matter for BCS rankings, but there is no guarantee that they'll continue to matter in the future. In fact, we really don't have any idea of how the selection committee will rank teams other than the fact that they'll somehow cobble together a list and pick the highest ranked non-contract team.

The key for the AAC is going to be having multiple teams in the Top 25.

Moving forward the system will reward teams for "quality wins" against other schools in the committees Top 25. The G5 with the most Top 25 wins will almost always be the one representing (provided they have the same W/L).

With the recruiting base the AAC has to work with and the ESPN TV package it shouldn't be too much of a problem to develop multiple Top 25 teams. I really think CUSA's TV deal was holding the development of schools like ECU back from reaching their potential.
