changing gears....two of my fave harmonies....jar of flies is very underrated....saw these guys a few times....the last was after staley died and they opened for VH when ed-twat-head was into the booze and pills and could barely hit a note....

Okay gentlemen....no set of Alice in Chains is complete without "Rooster". And I'm about to really make your day.......here's the UNPLUGGED version of Rooster, followed by the original version with the big sound!
Great harmonizing on the unplugged version. And Layne Staley really nails the vocals.
But you have to admit....the BIG sound on the original is simply awesome!

I was actually listening Aerosmith's 2 disc hits the other day...a great collection of their songs.

You got to check out B Boy Boulliabiase with its mini cut of AWOL. A truly underrated album when it arrived mainly due to the almost 180 degree turn from Licensed to Ill. It gets better the more you listen to it...it even took me a while to get into it.
Great album and also dug into the crates to dig out some of their pre-hype train stuff:
I didn't get into POD until they broke big with The Fundamental Elements of Southtown but when I got the chance to dig into their back catalog they had some good stuff from the beginning. I like that they can incorporate ska, reggae, rock, metal, and hip hop into a one of a kind sound. Still glad they can keep up the spiritualness of their beliefs in their music.

I dig some Beastie Boys and enjoy several cuts from Paul's Boutique including this one...

Latina DIY Punk rock from back in tha' day...gotta freakin' luv it!
Artist: The Plugz
Album: Electrify Me
Cut: "La Bamba"
1979 PLUGZ RECORDS
The Plugz (also known as "Los Plugz") were a Latino punk band from Los Angeles, California that formed in 1977 and disbanded in 1984. They and The Zeros were among the first Latino punk bands, although several garage rock bands, such as Thee Midniters and Question Mark & the Mysterians, predated them. The Plugz melded the spirit of punk and Latino music. Their songs reflected the anger and angst of growing up Chicano, and this was reflected in their sardonic hi-speed version of Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba". The Plugz are generally acknowledged as being the first D.I.Y. punk band in L.A., having started their own PLUGZ RECORDS and later Fatima records.

My prime cuts off Paul's Boutique would be:
High Plains Drifter
Hey Ladies
Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun
3 Minute Rule--mostly due to the off style rap and heavy percussion
B Boy Bouillabaisse --so many good short raps contained within.
RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
and my favorite Burning Sensations song, which is completely different (and a waaay poppier calypso style rocker) than their above-posted version of Pablo Picasso (and a great video):
Artist: Burning Sensations
Album: Burning Sensations
Cut: "Belly of the Whale"
1982/1983 Capitol/EMI Records
"A nice breeze blows in, whenever the big fella cracks a grin
And when the time and the place is right, you sit down, sip some bouillabaisse
Oh, ya know I'm gonna have me a little fun
I got a candle, I can get a lot of reading done...
I feel like Jonah in the Belly of the Whale,
I get so lonely in the Belly of the Whale!"

"yeah, some of ya'll been down to Louisiana, heard about Polk Salad Annie...but you don't know about this....
well, you go to a bar on a Wednesday night, and in there they got a big hunk of plywood...
four feets by eight feet....and they got a hundred squares on it.......
Artist: Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper
Album: Root Hog or Die
Cut: "Chicken Drop"
1989 I.R.S. Records

RE: OT: CUSA board Music thread (what are you listening to right now?)
Artist: The McCoys
Album: Hang On Sloopy
Cut: "Hang on Sloopy"
July 1965 Bang Records
According to Rick Derringer, the original version of Sloopy was written by a "high school kid in St. Louis" and sold to Bert Berns. If true, the answer to the age old question "just who is Sloopy?" lies with him. It was first recorded by The Vibrations in 1964, for Atlantic Records but The McCoys version is the most famous one.
