thanks for sharing....didn't know this....even though StL isn't technically 'yankee doodle land', moving to the south in '74 at the age of 9 was the best in 'learning lessons'.....I do love the stories behind the scenes....that's a great share!

I have an older friend that I frequent to offer company (not that way, but the right way)....it's a mutual agreement we were born at different times and that's just the way she goes....I love making 'em smile....
Jack is the shite! and Loretta ain't too shabby either

Album: Now Here Is Nowhere
Track: "Nowhere Again"

I saw them live on their first tour. A spartan stage set. One bright spotlight shining from behind out towards the audience. Very small club. I thought their show was totally awesome. It had been awhile since I'd seen a new band that blew me away. They characterize themselves as "Space Rock." Okay, then. Blowing all the other kids away...... That was a fun night.

Artist: Pete Wingfield
Album: Breakfast Special
Cut: "18 With A Bullet"
1975 Island Records
Wingfield hit the singles charts on both sides of the Atlantic in 1975 with "Eighteen With a Bullet", a pastiche doo-wop number involving word play on hit record chart positions - a bullet, in record-chart parlance, referring to a song still selling strongly and/or moving up the charts. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart on 23 August 1975. On the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending 22 November 1975, the tune lived up to its name by charting at no. 18 – with a bullet. The song peaked at no. 15 a week later. It also reached no. 7 in the UK Singles Chart. Taken from the album, Breakfast Special, "Eighteen with a Bullet" later featured on the soundtrack to the 1998 film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

You're welcome. And thanks for the Sam Cooke. Mom used to play his stuff all the time while driving us kids in the car. Had a couple of his albums on 8-track tapes.

Well, I'm glad he finally got around to releasing these on an album. First saw Blake at Eddie's Attic back in 1997. His offbeat take on things was refreshing. Admittedly, it was probably a lot more fun to see him live, and the occasional off-tone vocal added a bit of charm live; still brings back good memories and what one guy can do with just a guitar and vocal. He used to work the bar there. Okay, he didn't take off like John Mayer did later, but it was a fun place to hang out. Still is.
Can't get more obscure than these selections (8 views, 11 views, 2 views and 1 big view so far, respectively on youtube), here he is...ladies and gentlepeople...Mr Blake Guthrie, for better or worse:

She's got a problem with macaroni & cheese

Can't do much of anything but get down on my knees"
