Thoughts on Doeren (1st year so far NC state)
Has anyone been following NC State?

I noticed they are 3-5 and should of lost to an FCS but last second drive pulled them away with a victory.

NC State SOS is 70 and were a bowl team last year.

I want to hear the thoughts on who has been following them and how things have been going?

They are a team that I seem to never see on television. Much to early to evaluate Doeren, maybe after year 3? I have complete confidence he will take NC State to the top of the conference though. I don't think there are many better coaches in the country than Doeren.

Remember, Doeren inherited a yeah with a lot of talent in NIU. Most of the time that's not the case when a coach leaves for a bigger school. I think it will take a year or two for him to get into a groove.

Only watched them play Clemson on tv and they got screwed on a call and woulda probably won but I don't follow them besides that, just check a score once in a while but they don't seem that good. Same thing with Minnesota, don't watch much of them unless they are playing one of NIUs opponents, although I have the Penn State game on right now after reading this.

Yeah, Minnesota has impressed me with closing out games (not able to do so last year)

Doeren and Cary inherited some of the best NIU teams in history! I hope they give back to NIU with those big pay checks!

The only thing missing from an ESPN College Gameday is a segment from yesman on why in fact, Coach Doeren, is el Diablo. lol

I like Doeren and anyone from NIU (Even Fleck)

I just stated Doeren took over the best team (doesnt make him the best coach in the world)

He left in the same state as coach Kill (kill has health problems though which was a factor of choice)

Just trying to tell ya'll that any coach that leaves NIU is putting our name out there as well!

Enjoy the winning seasons and cheer on the ex-coaches as well

Its hard to look past Kill's tendency to choke in big games, followed him at about every level.

8-2 for Minny is pretty impressive! Through his health and now sitting in booth. Is good for him!

RE: Thoughts on Doeren (1st year so far NC state)
Between NCS wolfpack message board and seeing an occasional game here in Fla DD did not inherit much talent and his projected QB was injured in first game. I believe he is back now. DD did try a fake punt against NC their big rival and it backfired on DD and probably was the difference. The fans were not expecting much this year and they feel he had an outstanding recruiting class, so he is not on the hot seat.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am flipping between the Minny and Iowa games and plan to watch some of the NC State games. Have to respect what Jerry Kill and his staff have accomplished at Minny. I hope they win a Big championship.

I'd have more respect for them if they'd won a MAC championship.

RE: Thoughts on Doeren (1st year so far NC state)
Doeren, like anybody, is an awesome coach when he has a great QB. The last two years he had Harnish and Lynch. This year not so much. Look at Brady Hoke, he's not so hot this year either because his QB is a turnover machine. No coach has a chance without a good QB. We'll find out about Doeren the next few years just like we'll learn more about Carey next year.

We lost the game! I have said it since the last year

The vibe in the locker room pre-game for that game was not the same as all season

Also, a fluke 4th and 20 completed first down on a tip is not kills fault!

If Kill spent as much time preparing for that game as he did on the telephone interviewing for jobs, the outcome would have been different.

I agree

I am excited to see how next year winds up with the new QB!

I remember Lynch has a lot of shoes to fill with Harnish

Then he tore it up

I am hoping the same with either new QB next year but if he out does Lynch he should be heisman!

How much time did he spend on the phone?

Practice Preparation was the same that week.

I guess Kill should of been prepared for the tip at the end as well.
