RE: Dome stadium
It's supposed to be 32 tomorrow at 7PM in Kent for the Kent kickoff. At least there's no snow currently forecast.
I don't know that a domed stadium would help much, though it would cut the wind. You can't heat that much space. The wind chill factor says it'll feel like 21.
And that's for a 2-win team playing at home to a 0-win team. I'm a football fan, but I also am human.

But without A/C (oh the irony of the name) the dome is hot and stale during August heat for football. It's showing its age in spots, and SU fans debate off and on just what to do next. Some still like it, others want a new open air pad. Though, they can't answer what to do about Syracuse's crazy snow and from where funding will come.
Well first, when the teams are winning - the dome is rocking!
Replacing the dome; without building a new high-capacity arena to go along with an open-air stadium... well that plan is just a pipe dream... basketball is the 'Cuse cashcow!
As for showing age - all of last year's cosmetic and systems upgrades... including new giant video boards, video fascia ring around the dome, etc... helped give it a more modern feel to the old lady.
As for the lack of AC systems - some people complain about a game or two a year in August/September... adding an air circulation, venting, or A/C system to the Dome's inflation units would be cheaper than replacing the facility... plus, how many complaints would there be (or people just staying home) with cold and snow in October and November with an outdoor stadium at night. How about the number of complaints when a new arena for basketball only has 18-20K seats and there are 15-17K people for big conference games left out!
