Congrats to Mr. Bacote on an awesome game in regulation and a career high. Thanks for giving us something to cheer for. Was also happy that Ebondo played better than I feared. There's potential there.

Another positive: Coach Jones has this team playing a style of ball that seems to match the profile of his roster.

The generous minutes to Anton was mostly dictated by the foul situation, something we probably will need to get used to this season.

And I have no problem with the effort shown tonight by Anton. He played about as well as his skills permit.

Aside from really bad shooting tonight, I think pretty much everything was positive.

Who is #0? I don't know if he has a bad temper or a bad attitude problem, but I don't like it.

Jordan Baker, he's one of my favorites. He's a bit of a personality but he plays very loose and aggressive.

I thought he played well too, Mosley was good in limted minutes as well.

One positive is this team will only lose Anton next year. With just the guys redshirting this year, Clark, Nik & Freeman this team would be pretty solid.

Great job by Bacote and if Batten has even a "bad" shooting night as opposed to "horrible", we win that.

Neither. But continue to pass judgment on a kid you have never met.

If we shoot 60% from the FT line we win.

Batten probably had the best floor game of his career. 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 turnover and got to the line a bunch. 2 or 3 more shots fall down and we win.

I totally agree (and wish I had added a similar comment to my earlier post).

There is no hiding from the fact that DB's shooting is off, and not just a little bit. Something has gotten into his head, and what he is hoisting up at the basket, even when taking an open shot, is ugly. But I sure got the sense that this team is more on its game when he is on the court. His hustle and take charge approach seems to take an lot of pressure off of the other players, and opens up for them additional opportunities.

What was most appalling to me about last season was watching the team mail it in -- Batten excepted. There were some games when it appeared that he was the only one giving full effort. Based upon last week's exhibition and last night's game, I don't see that problem repeating itself this year. I don't personally know, but my guess is that D. Batten is an important part of that positive dynamic.

Only time will tell about that assessment. I fully expect all the kids to give it their all EARLY in the season. Kids are just naturally pumped early on. The test for Jones will be to keep them motivated and playing hard in January and February IF they are getting beat every game. Of course if they can win a few, the kids will motivate themselves.

That's my favorite part of battens game. The hustle. Kid goes 101 percent.
