Bowl Eligibility after 11/7
2 Teams are now Bowl-eligible: Louisiana and Texas St.

Louisiana: 7-2 overall (4-0 SBC)
Games Left (3): Home (1)-- ULM Away (2): Georgia St. and USA
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: BOWL ELIGIBLE

Troy: 5-5 overall (3-3 SBC)
Games Left (2): Home (1): Texas St. Away (1): Mississippi
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 1

South Alabama: 3-5 overall (1-3 SBC)
Games Left (4): Home (2): ULM, Louisiana Away (2): Navy. Ga. State
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 3

Arkansas St.: 4-4 overall (2-1 SBC)
Games Left (4): Home (2): Texas St. and Georgia State Away (2): ULM and WKU
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 2

ULM: 5-4 overall (3-1 SBC)
Games Left: (3) Home (1): Ark. State Away (2): USA and Louisiana
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 1

Texas St: 6-3 overall (2-2 SBC)
Games Left: (3) Home (1): WKU Away (2): Ark. State and Troy
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: BOWL ELIGIBLE

Western Kentucky: 5-4 overall (2-3 SBC)
Games Left: (3): Home (1): Arkansas St. Away (2):Army and Texas St.
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: 1

Georgia State: 0-9 overall (0-4 SBC)
Games Left: (3) Home (2): Louisiana, South Alabama Away (1) Ark St.
Wins needed to get bowl eligible: Cannot get bowl eligible

Predictions on final records:
Louisiana 10-2
Troy 6-6
South Alabama 5-7
Arkansas St. 6-6
ULM 6-6
Texas St. 7-5
Western Kentucky 6-6
Georgia St. 0-12

My predictions are heavily on home teams winning conference games with only a couple of exceptions down the stretch. If those records above are indeed right then 6 SBC teams will have at least 6 wins. It would be very interesting which ones go to bowls. I still believe there is a very good chance of 3 SBC in bowls this year.

I believe you guys will take care of business and either stAte or ULM will stay home.

As do I. They beat WKU at home and split with stAte and Troy....don't know which of the two they'll defeat, but they'll come up with a good enough finish to get a bowl's attention.

TxSt is going to be fine record wise. ULM not so lucky. Troy is a long shot, and so is USA by one point.

RE: Bowl Eligibility after 11/7
Let's just say that Tx State ends up 7-5 because they win one of their final 3 games. (not sure that will happen)

Should Tx State get a bowl if they finish 7-5, yet 3-4 in conference?
What if one of these Troy / stAte / WKU / ULM winds up 6-6, with a 4-3 conference record and a WIN over Tx. State? Who would/should get a bowl bid?

Overall record seems to carry the most weight. As for who should, I guess the bowls themsevles make that decision.

That home loss to a Browning-less ULM sure looms large today. I hope they overcome it.

Bowl Eligibility after 11/7
Bowl eligibility in the SBC is 7 wins. So if Louisiana and TxSt are the only two teams at 7 or more wins then those are the only two teams that I honestly believe will go bowling. Don't see much of shot for those at 6-6.

Not really. Eligibility is 6 wins. I doubt anyone from the SBC will go to a bowl with 6 wins. I don't think anyone will go with 7. Not this year.

There is a potential situation in which UL is the only SBC team with more than 7 wins. In that case...a 7 win team would go.

Is it actually mathmatically possible that only one team could finish with 7 or more wins? If it is, then that scenario would mean a total collapse by everyone else in the league.

The reality is UL already is going bowling and the seventh win did nothing to hurt that.

These three teams get a bowl offer with six wins. ASU, TROY, or South. Mobile would take any of them with six wins.

CE, what do you think it would take for TxState to get an invite and what bowl might be a candidate for them? I'd sure like to see them snag one.

RE: Bowl Eligibility after 11/7
Obviously The Cajuns are going to New Orleans...After that I see a bunch of 6 and 6 teams....Either Troy or Ark. St. will get the Bowl in MObile, leaning towards Ark. St. at this time due to easier schedule to finish up...ULM Independence Bowl maybe or sitting at home, not sure about a 6 and 6 Troy team and where they might end up...Not seeing it for Texas St. at 6 and 6 or even 7 and 5, sorry, we learned too newbies are rarely invited 1st time around bowl eligible..You will hear a lot of not sure how their fans will travel? I equal it to trying to get a job right after college and the dreaded well "you don't have the experience we are looking for at this time"....

As far as WKU, we have to be 8 and 4 (7 and 5 longshot; 6 and 6 or below no shot) and this time that might be a long shot this team finishing 8 and 4, I can easily see us winning all of these games just as as I can see us lose all of these game remaining...But if we do get 8 and 4 we will be on our own and we will either end up in Detroit again or Beef O brady bowl if AAC cannot fill their slot...CUSA will push us into that bowl to see a match up of current member vs future member..Only way WKU ends up in a bowl game this season...

I know nothing about the Army team you guys will face tomorrow but believe it'll be an uphill battle to knock off both TxState and stAte, even with the latter on your home field.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm hoping TxState will be Cinderella this year, pick up 8 wins and actually get a bowl invite. I guess the Independence Bowl would be the logical choice if an invite is forthcoming.

Good luck tomorrow Toppers!

I don't see the Independence taking Texas St. over ULM, after we brought 20,000 last year. They aren't going to bring that many to Shreveport. We'll know a lot more tomorrow after the ULM-stAte game.

Not really. All that would need to happen is the home teams (Sans Georgia State) win their games and UL wins out. UL would be 10-2 Texas State 7-5 and almost everyone else 6-6
