Breaking story!
I'M on My smart phone at work and received a breaking News alert that Maryland challenging the 52 million dollar payout may delay Louisville entry into the ACC for 2014 . President Ramsey said a lot of things need to happen on Marylands part first to meet the 07/2014 timeline. Said Louisville is ready to move if cleared up first.[/u]

RE: Breaking story!
I don't think a move from one conference to another is going to have an effect on this law suit. I think they can still move on, and if they don't I think it's possible they will not have an affiliation to the conference more less play as an independent like Notre Dame. I don't think there will be any issues what so ever.

If my online friends are any indication, this story is spreading like wildfire among the Card faithful. Though I doubt the lawsuit will really stand in the way, hearing this out of Dr Ramsey's mouth certainly caused my own stomach to do flip flops.

I too don't see Maryland sticking around for 2014. However the main risk to the schools is recruiting base. Do you create an uncertainty in Their minds. Ticket sales, Advertising and scheduling could be altered without a fixed timeline for moving. If all else fails and Maryland cant move could another school be added to make 16 ? Will be interesting to say the least.

RE: Breaking story!
I think it's safe to say Louisville will be in the ACC next year. But will Maryland? There might be wording that a team can't leave until they pay the exit fee and that's the holdup. As we saw in the GOR, the exit fee is just as wordy too

Let me clarify it is 100 percent in the ACC mind that maryland will be gone and louisville will be in, its just legal problems. If maryland would just pay up

I highly doubt it happens, but it'd be pretty lulzy if Maryland couldn't leave the ACC.

Maryland is gone, 100 percent I don't think there is any way unless they personally change their minds, which also cant happen I think they have signed the B1G GOR. But what a joke it would be on the Big Ten, they have schedules made for Maryland not only for next year but through 2019. We look forward to having you July 1st Louisville :)

If Maryland holds things up, there will be more lawsuits and Maryland will have to pay more than 52 million.

RE: Breaking story!
The ACC office has previously stated that Louisville is welcome to join for 2o14 REGARDLESS of what Maryland does. In fact, had the Cardinals been able to leave early, they would've been welcome THIS YEAR (the ACC would've simply had 15 teams for football and 16 for basketball). This is nothing more than a scare tactic designed to generate hits to a website, IMO.

Let Maryland stay, let Louisville in, and get ND to join in for football as well until such time Maryland leaves.

Part of me wants to see MD stay just to LMFOA over them not getting Duke and UNC at home for a second year in a row.

But it's not going to happen.

That wasn't quite what he said. He said UofL was welcome to join when they were available, answering a question that specifically mentioned 2014 or 2015. Louisville could have gotten out of the AAC for this year but the ACC could not accommodate them (a 15 team FB conference would violate NCAA rules for a CCG).

That said, Maryland is not staying. This I know.

Exactly. The point is to show that by by leaving they are not causing the ACC any damages, of which suing Maryland for loss of revenue by not leaving would actually prove their case.

That said the threat of staying is about as credible a threat as when Alan Harper threatens to move out of "his" Malibu beach house.
