RE: MACtion - From Huskiewire
This is a 3-day serious discussing the MAC's midweek national TV exposure. There are also a bunch of documents that HuskieWire got a hold of that compare Saturday revenue with weekday revenue, as well as the tax statements from the Mid-American Conference.

All MAC fans should read this.

RE: MACtion - From Huskiewire
Part 2 of the Midweek MACtion series is online now. Here's a snippet below. Looks like we are only re-negotiating the last 3 years and possibly adding more years to the current ESPN contract. That's good.

Quote:The MAC's TV deal earns the league $1 million a season, which is split among the conference's teams. The league is in the fifth year of an eight-year deal, but the conference is renegotiating the deal with ESPN, hoping to rewrite the final three years and add more, a source familiar with the situation told the Daily Chronicle.

Very good research here.

Answers a lot of questions.

I did have my local pub turn on the BG v OIHO game last year.

Wrong about not adding any years. Read the quote again.

RE: MACtion - From Huskiewire
Part 2 of the Huskiewire series about MACtion is titled: The MAC Owns Midweek Football. Quote from the article:

Quote:"The MAC owns midweek football," said Tom Valdisseri, the executive vice president of KemperLesnik, a sports event marketing and public relations firm based in the Chicago area. "From a conference perspective it's raised the bar on awareness and familiarity throughout the country, as well as the schools who play."

One major problem - We are selling our souls for a mere $1mm per year split among all institutions. ESPN is flat out stealing from the conference.

Making more money than we lose. That's a very important point.

And since when is it a doctrinal truth that MAC games must be played on Sat?

More important than the money is the exposure. Notice in that article it said that it was getting our name out there and improving our ability to be recognized. While it has no direct monetary value it does have value to our schools.
