So 2% chance as of today. I think Sweet 16 is a legit. Final Four is a definite reach.

The chances that people will laugh at that joke again?

Joke?

RE: Final Four
We have Final Four talent. We have Championship talent. The key will be getting the team to play up to their talent level.

Championship Recipe:

1. Chemistry
2. Intensity/Heart
3. Talent
4. Luck

I have seen teams with way less overall talent make Final Fours. Our team has to buy in and we will have a much better shot.

I also think we are too inexperienced up front to win 4 straight NCAA games against tough teams, especially since we're likely a 4 seed, and would likely play two games as underdogs, just to make the F4.

Can we get a higher seed? Sure. Can we make the Final 4? Certainly. Is it likely, or realistic to have that as an expectation? Not in my opinion.

I think the Sweet 16 is realistic. Right now, until I see us play a few games, I would be disappointed if we didn't make it that far. I think anything beyond that is gravy.

A lot of those players get drafted because of deep runs by their teams. Siva and Dieng for example will realistically never do anything in the NBA. They aren't NBA players. If Memphis makes a deep run, our 0 NBAer's will magically jump up to 2-4.

Honestly, I was thinking about them from the standpoint of this year only. Looking at the seniors, plus anybody else leaving for the NBA after this year.

I do think Dixon and Geron are borderline, and Nichols and Iverson could make it eventually, but not after this season. Unless, like you said, we make the F4, then things change, b/c somebody would have been great, but I just don't see that as likely. Possible, not likely.

Certainly shouldn't be a reasonable expectation to make the F4.

Depends on the teams we're parred with, we need a good seed to play a bad team and hope for a upset in our region.
Luck of the cards.

I'm 'bout ready to be pleasantly surprised for a change. If they think we're one of the 16 best now, I'd like for us to show 'em they were right in March. They're not just ranking players, they're ranking teams, coaching, everything. Time to end up being what we've so far only looked like.

I dont see us making it pass the sweet 16. The only way we go further is if Nichols or Shaq or both go beast mode. If both go beast mode we may win it all. The world lets get it

Billy, I think we have about a one and ten chance. Sorry, I'm a little late to the party.

What do I base that on? Just my figurin'.

I don't know. I'm still not a Pastner enthusiast. I don't like the way he handles the kids. It's like white bread meets inner-city. He just doesn't get it imo. He seems to have this "I'm gonna change the world" enthusiasm that doesn't resonate with the players. I don't think they're buying what he's selling. I mean, I'm not.

He has no edge to him. He's kinda plastic. He's like what we all want to be when we're dreaming. Then you wake up and see the real world.

I appreciate that.

Off topic somewhat but, I remember when the story came out that Josh was on his cellphone talking to recruits while his wife was giving birth to his daughter (I think it was a girl). Everyone was talking about How devoted he was to basketball yadda yadda. That amazed me.

Talking on a cell phone to some high school kid while your wife is giving birth to your child is beyond belief to me.

RE: Final Four
Heart and intangibles matter...but talent matters. Let alone the backwards shot at our own kids with the idea that teams with heart make it (and our current kids have not).

Talent matters more. Some luck helps too. We may have it all, we may not.

But, since 2010 with Butler, it is still teams with a lot of pro talent and high level recruits. Yes, VCU, Butler, Butler and Wichita State made the Final Four. Butler had a couple of professionals and the others may too. VCU is looking more like a one year great story (yes self bashers- they beat our kids very early last year)...

The other schools in the Final Fours since 2010?
Duke, Michigan State, WV
UConn, Kentucky
Kentucky, Kansas, Ohio State, Louisville
Louisville, Michigan, Syracuse

Our kids have been really good, but certainly short of great. Hoping it happens this year. Beats crapping on what you claim to love.

RE: Final Four
Getting off to a good start is key for our success. We need to actually beat top teams we meet early to instill confidence, especially for the young guys. If we can do this then the youngsters will say: “Hey man…this stuff might work!”

On paper we have the best frontcourt in Josh’s era but we also have very good wings. If Wilson, Iverson, & Nick King gel, we may see 2-3 wings & 1 guard at times. I know Josh is a smart guy and he now has the tools to drive other coaches crazy. Does he do it? YEP.

The Tigers have experience, talent, and players who want it all. Time to cut down the final nets.

My 2 cents
