I liked watching both Burks and DJ play. They both had the ability to make your jaw drop in a split second.

Comparing jaw drops with Antonio and d.j. ? Man, I must have really been asleep back when Antonio played for us. 03-lmfao

Antonio was CUSA player of the year ...

Yes. And he also actually played in real NBA games.

yes he did and it really didn't work out for him....averaged 3 points in 24 games his first season...don't count d.j. out in possibly playing in the NBA someday. Stranger things have happened.

Can we all agree-No one ever made more of a limited skill set than DJ? Take away the leaping ability and he was all heart.

I loved Burks-tough as nails. Speed kills but it doesn't land you on an NBA roster-at least very often.

I like DJ but the NBA only cares about how a player will help their team win. And the NBA has no place for a 6-4, 180 pound power forward. It will never happen.

And you are really going overboard to denigrate Burks' legacy to build up DJ. Really over the top. Burks was a much better college player than DJ. He just was.

I certainly didn't mean to denigrate Antonio's legacy....just don't remember a lot of jaw dropping moments is all I said. He was a wonderful player for us and actually became friends with my son so I got to know him as a person too, not just a player. Don't ever say never. He just might prove you wrong.

Burks' speed and dribble ability was every bit as good as DJ's vertical.

At his size the only way he will ever play in the NBA is to all of a sudden develop 2 guard skills and play at that position....handling the ball, outside shooting, guarding perimeter players on defense. In other words all of the things he can't do. I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just looking at it honestly.

I disagree....you never know...can't tell you how many folks have told me they would support the Grizz if d.j. was on the team, might be more than you think.

Hate to say it, but drafting decent Tiger players to "boost attendance" would be a death blow for the Grizzlies. This franchise is way beyond cheap tricks like that to boost attendance. The on court product speaks for itself.

Way back when, they drafted Antonio Burks. Nobody cared.

And as for those folks, if that's all they're holding out for....really sucks for them. They're missing out on some of the best basketball in the world.

At least they don't have bossy people making them change the colour of their makeup and underpants.

I am a huge sports fan and my focus is Tiger Football, basketball with a little Tiger baseball sprinkled in. I have traveled wide and far with my father and son over the years to watch the Tigers and many other sporting events. I have always lived in Mphs and have yet to go to a Grizzlie game and could care less about Nashville's NFL team and haven't done that either. I guarantee you if DJ were a Grizzly I would buy my first ticket.

It's not worth the Grizzlies taking up a roster spot of someone who could contribute just so they could sell a couple dozen season tickets. If they thought DJ could've contributed they would've signed him no matter if he played for the UofM or not.

There are many ways for a player to contribute to a team, many cogs in the gear. My opinion is DJ has the potential to contribute to an NBA team in some sort of role whether it be the Grizz or someone else. Your opinion can obviously differ, however wrong it may be!

I love DJ - but anyone that thinks the Grizzlies should sign a player because he played for the UM / could sell more tickets just doesn't get it.

Evidently I don't. but hey, not the first time. I guess having a bench player that can come in with "high positive energy" sorry, couldn't resist, that can electrify the crowd and play some pretty decent D, AND sell MORE tickets (whether it be 2 or 200) just isn't worth it. 03-weeping

Good to see DJ blocking shots. I think its silly for so many people to get ruffled over him not being a Grizz or if he should or shouldn't be on a roster in the NBA. Time will tell, I'm rooting for him to make a team. I'm assuming some teams will use his health as an excuse for not giving him a chance. Its a busines and it's unfair. Lets not forget that the grizzlies are 1 of 30 teams that all did the same thing(or didn't do anything in this case)

I think his best shot is to go to a team that has a roster that is in a position to play for the title now. It's unlikely for him to play for a rebuilding team, but he has the ability to be productive as a role player similiar to his time at Memphis. Even when he was a starter for the tigers he rarely played many minutes compared to the avg starter for any given team.

Only players that averaged more playing time last season were Chris, Adonis and Joe. I couldn't find Geron's minutes.
