Like the Stanford band?

since we will never be part of the traditional crowd we need to think outside the box and come up with our own style and look. take the Oregon route

My biggest issue is that I can't hear the band as often as I'd like, especially as the team is running out of the tunnel. I'd suggest ditching the explosions (keep the fire) so we can actually hear our fight song. Maybe even mike the band when they're in the stands?

I think the band usage started with HBCUs

But I don't care for the changed words. I'd rather not use it. Not a huge deal to me, but I can't get into it

Jesus just left Chicago.....and he's bound for New Orleans....

Unfortunately the numbers in the band have dwindled to the point that they are hard to hear at times. I wish we could build the numbers back up.

I miss the song - I'll need to listen for it next game.

The athletic department used to handle the marching band scholarships. At one time over half of the then 300 member band was on full tuition. A former music dept chair convinced then President Rawlins that the music department should be in charge of that money. You see the result.

I really don't know how you cannot like that sound, but I love it to stinking pieces.

I love it too, but did you have to dig up a three-year-old thread?

I didn't have to, no.

I do believe these things are free.

I was doing a google search for the song and that thread came up.

Personally, I'd rather hear the song I'm So Glad as popularized by Cream.

Bring back "Whoop That Trick". We played this at a couple of games until the administration made us can it.

Tubas on that bass riff and then the snares come in...awesomeness.

RE: "I'm so glad" gone?
The only problem I have with the song is that after living 12 years in Knoxville and going to many UTK games, every time I hear "I'm So Glad" I think of that ugly orange school singing it.

I don't know which school started using it first, but I can't help but hear the other school singing it in my head.

I'm not sure how popular it was, but I liked the way students and fans sang it in unison at football and basketball games.

One can hope

I thought it sucked
