RE: Texas State Baseball (schedule)
UT did come to open our new baseball stadium in 2009 but they got to bring the umpiring crew and we got (add your own word here) by them. They did it as a "favor" for Ty.
I can't tell you when they had been to TXST before that. Couldn't blame them for not wanting to come to our sandlot field but they haven't been back since.
I am telling you, the change in the w/l weighting system is why they're coming. I won't be surprised if this starts to happen with some of the other "privileged" elitist teams when they start to feel the impact of that change.
UT always had 70% of their games at home. Probably 95% of their OOCs. I'll be interested to see what their schedule looks like this year.
I know this took effect in 2013 but I think those teams took a wait and see attitude in scheduling but are finding they need to "get out more"
The revised RPI formula is as follows:
* Each road victory will be valued as 1.3 instead of 1.0
* Each home win will be valued at 0.7 instead of 1.0.
* Neutral-site games will retain the same value of 1.0.

The RPI formula was specifically designed to help Northern Programs who have to play on the road the first month of this season.
It was needed, we were getting situations where teams like LSU and Texas literally refused to play on the road in OOC play, and then used the home field advantage to pump up their RPI.

I truly believe it was both, although they weren't going to come out and say the latter portion. I thought it was a good thing for the northern teams but I also read between the lines.
It isn't going to kill UT to travel 28 miles down the highway once a year. Their gals do it all the time. Just wish we could have had some of those games at Bobcat Ballpark the kast few years. I know the results would have been different.
I won't get ibnto all the times we got worked over by the umpiring crew (made up of B12 umps with affiliations to UT)

I hate to break it to you, but SBC umps are not very good either. I know most of them personally...errr,...well I yell at them enough that I know their names.

Just an FYI: while I think Catmom is a fantastic poster and supporter of TXST, she will blame the umpires for nearly every loss that Texas State baseball suffers. Carry on...

So you're telling me she's like 90 percent of the baseball fans that are out there?
I will gladly blame the umpires for an ASU loss any time they give me the chance...which is quite often sadly.

No, but I knew one enough to know that he had a gambling problem. We always have fun when he calls our games.
