CBS Bowl Projections (11/4)
CBS has 3 SBC teams in bowls now:

Go Daddy Bowl: Northern Illinois vs. Western Kentucky
New Orleans Bowl: Louisiana vs. Tulane
Idaho Potato Bowl: ULM vs. Bowling Green

Note to Warhawks: this is NOT a dig at you.

However, it seems that matchup in the Potato Bowl would be unquestionably the lowest attended bowl of the year.

WKU over TxSt? I don't know 'bout that...

I'd go and of course bring my wife so 2 at least and probably another 100 or so warhawks and maybe bowling green would that many so that's 202.

EXTREMELY low attended. I'll take any bowl, but I don't see WKU getting GoDaddy with them leaving the conference.

I don't either. That slot is likely to go to either stAte or TxSt.

Even if we have 4 bowling, unless WKU runs the table, I doubt they would be bowling.

Didn't Middle Tennessee get left out last year even though they had a better record just because they were moving conferences? I can't see WKU getting into a bowl no matter what they do. Not that they can't get bowl eligible or anything like that, but I just don't see the Sun Belt allowing that since Texas State is bowl eligible now.

There was a little more to it than that, but the Conference surely did not bend over backwards to help Middle get in.

Yea...don't doubt that but I would be there. Positives: A bowl game....on a Saturday. Negatives: Boise on December 21st. Cold and a long way from home for most fans (easy trip for me).

Now I really don't put much stock into what this guy is selling though. I would bet that Go Daddy would take a bowl eligible Troy over WKU because A) WKU is leaving to a conference with no tie in for that bowl (see MTSU) and B) ticket sales.

Then again, this guy thinks an 8-1 Auburn, ranked in the Top 10 is probably going to lose out and be the SEC 7th pick and go to the Music City Bowl.

And why should they? Sort of like helping your wife select a dress for her date tonight.

That was my point though. If it comes down to WKU or us for who gets a bowl spot, I just can't see WKU getting it over us. They're in the same situation as MT was last year.

WKU will not go bowling. I don't know when these "experts" will realize that.

Be assured that I was not trying to imply that the Conference should have gone out of their way to help.

Depending on what bowl it is, if there is a tie in with CUSA I could see CUSA pushing for WKU with WKU joining next season . As much as many don't want to admit it, BP makes for good tv and could be a push in the WKU favor. If TX state beats WKU in a few weeks then I agree TX would deserve the bid first but that's still a big ? Unless the bowl is local for a team (UL example) nobody will have a great travel attendance. WKU proved they will travel when we took 5-8k 10 hours away through a blizzard last season and bowls will look at stuff like that. I will not be surprised at all if we stay at home

MTSU got left out because they made the mistake of listening to Karl Benson who insisted they did not need to pursue a bowl because the SBC would find one for them. There out to get in an SBC bowl involved the Liberty Bowl taking the champion ASU, opening the Go Daddy for MTSU. Instead the Liberty took Iowa State in a surprise, and ASU got Mobile.

MTSU had been working with the Military Bowl on a deal, but backed off on the League's advice and lost out to Bowling Green. Meanwhile WKU worked hard on Detroit and got the backup tie in without issue. MTSU sat at home.

It was a mistake by the Blue Raiders, though not nearly as big of a mistake as Neck made.
