ULM's offense went from anemic to high scoring once Browning hot healthy and Donald returned. Our O-line is built for Browning and has done well since he became able to run. It will be a heck of a game, just not sure stAte can keep up. I honestly feel we win at home, but we'll see. I also think last year would have been a heck of a game had Browning been healthy. We were beating ULL too before he went down AndI feel would have won. He is like taking Brees away from the Saints. He's a difference maker. Healthy that is.

Penalties can be a problem for us.

No, "stupid" uncalled for penalties can be a problem for us.

This issue of penalties is an interesting one. I've listened to a number of Belt games this year, not just Cajun games, and there seem to be some really big (and really stupid) penalties at the worst times possible...........4th and long for XYZ near the end of the game trailing by 6 and a defensive player gets an unsportsmanlike call on a play involving an incomplete pass to keep the drive alive.

That kind of stuff. Seemed almost ever game I tuned in to had at least one call like that.

I feel this, I feel that, yada, yada, yada. ULM good with Browning, ULA'int good without Browning. Does this record have a second side?

I think everyone KNOWS you are better with Browning, how many times you gonna alibi?

The one thing I feel decent about in this one is out defense. We forced both ul and USA to kick field goals. If ulm does not have a great kicking game, they could struggle

One thing seems certain, this is an elimination game for one team.

I am thinking about making the drive down for this one. I just have to convince myself that ASU will keep it close enough so I don't feel like I am wasting the gas.

Should our coach continue to run our offense like the second half of USA game then I think we have a good shot at winning out. It's amazing what happens when the coach "discovers" what the fan base has been screaming for since week 2.

Reminded me of when Malzahn suddenly discovered the same thing after the USA game last year.

Maybe it's just a USA thing. If so we need to schedule them early next year. 05-stirthepot

RE: ULM vs AstAte
In 2011 we started pretty rough because Hugh didn't think he could afford to risk getting Aplin hurt. He figured out that he needed Aplin running to open up the passing game and in the 7th game of the season he figures out that he is either going to have a team that staggers around on offense or he can run Aplin and win. So a team that was 2-0 in conference winning by a total of 9 points wins the rest of the regular season with only one game determined by 9 points or less.

In 2012 Gus thinks he can't run Aplin because he doesn't have anyone behind him. In the 8th game 2-1 in conference he figures out if he wants to win he has to run Aplin. Wins out with the closest regular season game a 7 pointer at Troy.

In 2013 Harsin thinks he can't run Kennedy because he doesn't have anyone to replace him if he gets hurt. Halfway through the 8th game of the season realizes if he doesn't run Kennedy he can't win.

One of these years we might ought to try having a coach for more than one year so don't spend 2/3rds of the season waiting for the new coach to figure out what it takes.

Difference is Gus and Hugh didn't recruit the defensive side of the ball well. Most of the "stars" from the recruiting rankings on the defensive side belonged to guys who either never made it to campus or didn't stick. Half the defensive roster is guys playing their first or second year on the defensive side of the ball :(

This should be a good game . .. am pulling for whoever helps TX ST the most . . . I really think that for stAte, it'll come down to their ability to contain/limit Browning . . .

ASU, if Harsin has really discovered how to use his offensive players, will win this one. #42 at DE will live in Browning's grill all night, and the ASU interior DL will stuff the run.

We were missing two starters on our DL against USA,...so naturally they played their best game of the year behind a couple Freshman.

I was VERY impressed with stAte's DL in their game with the Cajuns. Yes, we rushed for 250+ yards, but our OL did not blow you off the ball like they did with TxSt and WKU.

I'll have to go back and check Harsin's Press Conference to be sure. If they do play, you can be assured that Darius Rosser, the Freshman who started last week will get significant playing time.

Cajuns OL did not dominate our DL very much at all. The problem was that their DL dominated our OL so badly that it made both sides of the ball look worse. Four separate times in our game the Cajuns had to attempt FG's after driving deep into ASU territory. USA had to kick three field goals in similar spots, and threw an interception on the 4th drive.

We didn't look great against Troy in September, but have really picked things up defensively since that game. Texas State and ULM have both struggled on FG"s at times recently. We stand a good shot at wins in both if the defense holds them down.

Yes, we have a great kicker who also punts and leads the conference in extra points, but his field goal accuracy has been suspect to say the least.

RE: ULM vs AstAte
I am not sure leading the league in extra points really shows the strength of your kicking game, but rather how many TD's you score. The key for kickers is what happened on those drives when you got inside the opponents 25, but couldn't get into the end zone.
