Hangtime Blog: Have Grizzlies Lost Their Bite?
Hangtime Blog

Already hearing it... Don't mention that the Grizzlies are historically a terrible team in San Antonio and Dallas, so the 1-2 start isn't that surprising. What say you?

Only time will tell. We have stretches where we look really bad and some where we look great. I think(hope) that as the guys become more familiar with whatever Joerger is trying to do on offense that they stop turning the ball over as much and score more. That would be a great place to start in terms of improvement. Joerger is also going to have to learn how to balance playing time. We all love Miller but he's terrible at defense and the same for Tony on offense. Coach is just going to have to learn which lineups play well together and who plays in what situation.

I'm a little concerned about the offense. But I'll start to worry when we're further into the season. If I'm not mistaken, we've always stumbled out the gate anyways.

Not even 10-20 games in. I agree with the prognisticators that guessed fewer than 50 wins, because this will be a season of wait and see where our additions, while crucial, have a lower ceiling than additions for other teams (Howard, Iggy, Doc Rivers). Therefore, we need to hope our additions achieve a greater percentage of their potential than superstars need to achieve, for us to maintain our position. If we hit on 90% of our additions at 90%, then we can be much better and get over the hump. A superstar at 70%, though, is better than a role player at 80-90%, at least so the history seems to appear, to me anyway, so addition of, say, Howard, can vault the Rockets even if he does not achieve his potential as much as the role players we have added. And a lot of this revolves around a commodity in Coach that is unproven, unlike, say, Rivers. After 10-20 games, things will start to settle, but even then, we have seen drastic movement after 40 games.

But it's too early to stress about it yet. One-eyebrow-raising, yes. Not a concern, yet, however.

Go Grizz!

The Heat have struggled out of the gate with many of the same problems we have (defense and turnovers), OKC got blown out by Minnesota and barely hung on to beat Phoenix last night, and the Spurs lost to Portland.

Meanwhile, Philly and MN are undefeated. Guess they better make Finals reservations!

I am hoping it's new coach, new season jitters but the Grizz aren't very good.

The game I saw live, against the Celtics, they did not look like a playoff team. As I said at the time, losing Hollins might have cost them a shot at the championship.

Right now I'm blaming Mike Miller. I know he has two rings but he's part of the bad Grizz past.

Karma? It seems you'd be blaming Jason Levian if you're talking Karma.

In fact, if the last 90% of the games look like the first 10%, I'd hope everyone blames Levian before Joerger.
