It's Mercer's 10th game and the Bears are fighting for a championship. It's amazing what this group has accomplished. For comparison you can look at Stetson and established teams in the PFL. Mercer has some great players and great coaches. There's plenty of haters out there, so let's fuel the fire this week!!!

A high scoring Jacksonville team comes to town. JU is the top scoring team in the PFL, while Mercer is #2. JU is 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the PFL. They may score a lot of points, but they allow quite a bit more than Mercer does.

Common opponents: The teams have 3 common opponents. Mercer went 3-0 against the group, and JU went 2-1. Mercer crushed Drake at home 31-17, and JU lost on the road to them 27-17.

There's no reason that Mercer can't win this! Go Bears!!!

The more I look at this one, Jacksonville hasn't beaten anyone big. Their wins are: Warner, Morehead State, and Davidson (all home games) and 1 road game @ Campbell.

The Bears will have to play a complete game with few mistakes to win this one but they can do it.

Yea I agree.. Gonna take the best game of the year to do it. These Bears have shocked the world the entire year, no reason it can't continue!

In a game that saw both teams score near their 41 point averages, Mercer edged Jacksonville by 3 points. Mercer scored on their first drive and went up 7-0. Jacksonville answered by dominating the next few series and took a 21-7 lead. When Mercer needed a drive they got one with a Russ rushing TD for the second time today to make it 21-14 JU leading. The Mercer defense stepped up big and intercepted JU, and then the Mercer offense quickly struck with a Russ to Marshall TD pass to tie the game. JU had a long drive to end the half and scored a TD on 4th and Goal from 1 yard out. 28-21 JU at the half.

The second half saw Mercer quickly score a field goal to make it 28-24 JU. That close score would be short lived as JU drove for a passing TD to make it 35-24 in favor of JU. Soon after was when Mercer took control. Jacksonville missed a field goal, and Mercer dominated the remainder of the game. Mercer would score the next three touchdowns on a Donald rush and two Russ passing TD's to Jones and Palmer -- including a flea flicker with a diving reception!

Jacksonville did not quit and scored with 2:40 remaining to make it 45-42 Mercer leading. JU then forced a three-and-out and starting marching down the field again. A huge sack and forced fumble would end the game and let Mercer walk out with the win!

Such a great atmosphere today. I hope Usher is OK as it looks like he got hurt again. He might need to sit out the rest of the year.

The defense came up so big today with 3 turnovers. On the opposite end our offense protected the ball and had 0 turnovers.

We can't forget that Mercer also converted 2 fourth down plays. One was DEEP in our own territory, and the measurement just gave us the 1st down. We had to punt 4 plays later, but we maintained field position.
