I do not understand where this is coming from?? I do not see anything elitist about any posts on this topic. The statement about Notre Dame not playing UNT in a bowl game is just fact....The same could be said for any CUSA school. Notre Dame would sit out of a bowl game (which they have done in the past) before they would play a CUSA school in a no name bowl game....So just relax a little.

Also in regards to CUSA shafting ECU in bowl assignments I do not think it would happen...CUSA and BB have been pretty fair to schools exiting the league over the last few years.

I know, it's a bit odd to see many NT fans post on here like its Christmas. You have won 6 games in the worst conference in college football. Relax, you guys will get to a bowl game this year. You will find that unless you go to the Liberty Bowl, the rest of the bowls are good only for the extra practice the teams get because of them.

ECU posters......questioning why so many UNT posters post here (pssst, they are in CUSA). Then you guys take the time to rip CUSA.....I really wish y'all would take your thought and opinions to the AAC board. But wait, since y'all still part of CUSA we still have to take your BS right?

I have to put with your's so.........

Who woulda thunk that 3 of the 4 old Sun Belt teams have a good shot to go bowling in C-USA ?

Why wouldn't they? The competition is not so good top to bottom in this league this year.

Not surprising at all. If you listen to the SBC folks, the brand of football being played in the SBC is just a small step down from SEC quality. Such teams should have no trouble dominating C-USA 03-wink

Well the SBC is ranked higher than Conf USA so in reality it is easier to win in Conf USA than in the Sun Belt.

SI seems to think HOD will be UNT vs Texas St. That would have a big crowd.

Won't happen. They also have Notre Dame playing in the Motor City Bowl, not a great destination city.

Guess we'll have to win the conference and take the Liberty bowl then.

Yes there is.

Not sure how any scenario would have any CUSA team playing an SBC team in the HOD Bowl, though.

Whichever CUSA school hosts the HOD Bowl, some Big 10 or P5 conference will supply a team who will want the North Texas Metroplex recruiting exposure. Wish the Cotton Bowl Stadium folks would have had the funds to add a sliding roof for this stadium back when it was dramatically re-modeled.

The SI story does explain why Notre Dame is showing up as a HOD team. Notre Dame has no bowl tie this year beyond an unlikely BCS at-large. The Irish have to wait and see which bowls have openings because the conference tie-in was not bowl eligible. SI has that current list as Idaho Potato, Beef O' Brady's, Detroit, Heart of Dallas, and Poinsettia. All the games except Heart of Dallas are December 26 or earlier.

I think I can see why Notre Dame might wind up in Dallas.

Agreed. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Notre Dame if the only options they have are HoD, Detroit or St Pete. They'll take DFW on New Year's all day, every day. ACC may have one or two extras looking for a spot as well.

ND ended up in the Hawaii Bowl a few years ago (2008) under similar circumstances. They beat Hawaii as I recall.

Of course, ESE84, the northern Texas recruiting exposure for the Irish might make it an easy decision for them if they were offered an invite to the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

If North Texas were fortunate to get the necessary wins in order to get a HOD Bowl invite, the U of Iowa Hawkeyes would probably still be on many of ours wish list because of the Hayden Fry and Dan McCarney connection.

Rice fans remember that all too well. Notre Dame ducked an invitation to the Texas Bowl that year and a game against a very good Rice team that blew out Western Michigan in a game of 8-4 opponents.
