ESPN College Football video replays, a question SBC vs C-USA
I don't have the luxury of watching college games on television as I live outside the States and don't yet have a satellite hookup. I do however, enjoy watching the video highlights on ESPN's College Football website.

I'm interested in both conferences and review the box scores where I can normally watch video replays of gameday highlights.

However, I've been noticing that the SBC games often seem to have video highlights attached, while the C-USA games often do not. For example, from yesterday's games:

Tulane vs FAU: no highlights
E. Carolina vs FIU: no highlights
S. Miss vs Marshall: no highlights

NMSU vs UL: highlights
stAte vs USA: highlights
WKU vs GaState: highlights

What's up with that? Are the C-USA games carried by other networks and therefore ESPN doesn't pick up the hightlights or is there another reason? Just wondering.

That's it. The SBC is carried by ESPN, that is who our contract is through, so you get coverage. CUSA is CBSports, it took me about 3 years before I even found them on tv and they get little to no coverage on ESPN unless they are playing a big OOC team. Very little conference coverage.

Thanks! I've been out of the loop so long I had no idea about the coverages. Other than the fact that ESPN seems to do some pretty lame half time shows when the SBC is the featured conference, I think I'd rather have ESPN carry the Belt versus CBS. Seems like a bigger sports audience to be sure.

CUSA is also carried on Fox as well. You can find many highlights there.

Thanks MT! Didn't realize that. While one can look at the numbers, there's nothing like some decent highlight videos to get a feel for the game.

Enjoy the ESPN3 coverage while you can. Next year, the Belt goes dark as ESPN3 goes away. Wright Waters signed the worst deal in the history of football with ESPN.

Wait, What, ESPN3 is going away??? What is replacing it??? How do I get to watch my Jags if there is no ESPN3??? On another note, Wright Waters and his replacement are both fools!!!

If it's replaced I hope we can get it here. It seems we lose the ability to pick it up in Paragould AR every other year.

Not interested in any SBC vs C-USA debates, but something I have noticed with the C-USA package is the broadcasters actually seem to have researched the teams and the halftime discussion is about the game being played (instead of Johnny Football, the Crimson Tide, or something else.)

We have all complained about ESPN's lack of SBC coverage during an SBC game.

At the same time, we get an increase in viewership for the big ESPN games. It works out to a fairly even trade. At least we don't have to listen to Petros Papadakis or whoever he is call our games. He's terrible.

Wonder if they are replacing ESPN3 with something else so they can charge due to that mechanism not being in their contracts.
Hate to pay to watch a game on my computer.

Just to expand on the online viewing options...

GSU uses SideArm to host it's home games. (It was free last year, but now you pay for a specified amount of time. Ex: 1day, 3 month, 1 year passes)
The quality is great and I like it better than ESPN3. GSU's comes in clear (most of the time in HD) and has very little lag, but ESPN3 is very poor and lags a lot. This is just my experiences though, some people have an issue with the GSU's webcast, but I would imagine they have the same stuff with ESPN3.

Now I heard a rumor that other SBC schools that use SideArm will allow others using the same site to watch their home games. So If GSU is away to NMSU and they use SideArm then I could watch that away game. I would really hope that all the SBC schools could get together and do this. I go to most home football games, so it would be great to watch them for away games. It would also be a huge incentive for people to sign up. Can you imagine being able to see all your team's home and away conference games (this includes football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, everything that school does a webcast for). It would be like a mini-network.
Of course If it was on regional or national television it would be blacked out in those areas. If so that means you just watch it on TV or live.

Anyway we could get the powers that be to look into this?

Have a tendency to agree with you. Would be more concerned about our fan bases being able to watch the away games, not going to have a huge amount of missed ticket sales, and keep the fan bases involved first. After that worry about ESPN distribution for recruiting purposes and national exposure. Build from the inside and reward those going to home Sun Belt games.

It would be great if you got a tv package (internet) for away games with the purchase of season tickets for home games.

I haven't heard anything about ESPN-3 going away. Is this just SB coverage leaving ESPN3 or is ESPN3 going dark? The only ESPN network I heard was shutting down was ESPN-3D, which is totally different from ESPN-3.
