But NLU was not in the Sun Belt and it was our university that voted for your membership over the objections of Louisiana Tech. That is fact and past of the larger pitcure.

Y'all also could have never attained the university of louisanan at Lafayette name without us agreeing to become the university of louisana at monore. I'd say doing the opposite of tech is always a good thing.

In hindsight no! We should have went along with them and let ULM die a slow death playing as an independent.

After reading the article it looks like they are working out some type of compromise within the conference. Will be interesting to see what they come up with, but as they mentioned, the refs called ULL, UL-Lafayette. Wonder if that is it?

That's not a compromise, it is what they have always called us. Benson said the policy should be for each school to be called what they wanted. Talked about Ark State and App state as both being ASU and Ga State and Ga Southern both being GSU and needing to resolve that. ULM has stated they were branding as ULM. UL is branding as Louisiana. That should be the compromise.

We prefer A-State (despite my insistence ArkSt is better branding because it lends itself better to use as a hashtag).

Guess we need to notify the league. A-State not ASU.

Appalachian State can have the ASU name. See how easy that was Louisiana folks? We're the one and only A-State though. That's why we removed that silly ASU crap off of everything related to athletics.

How compassionate of you condsidering ASU is currently branding athletics ASTATE, they are located out of state and not in the same system as your university. 07-coffee3

I think your stAte brand is brilliant. And considering how long Arizona State has been around i'm surprised that someone over there didn't think of it.

Oh, we could have gotten someone else. It would have required us to wait longer but we'd have dine it. You see the plan had been in place since 1984. It took a few years even after the law was passed for you to decide but we were ready on day one.

Warsaw, I repect your posts but just believe me that this is a battle that we will win eventually. Why do I say this?

We are raising the next generation. These little kids know who "UL" is so I can say pretty confidently that we are in this for the long haul because we have been in it since 1984.

I don't doubt that. Our university has never handled its business wisely.

Might want to check that timeline, bud. We had been invited to join the WAC for all sports and accepted, before the football-only invitation was extended to ULM. It was pretty well known at the time that if we'd stayed for the launch of Sun Belt football, ULM wouldn't have been invited.

After we submitted our "divorce decree" to Wright Waters, we would have had no concern about who y'all invited to fill our spot.

It doesn't matter cause y'all are slipping down the food chain in mighty fine fashion. You guys and ULM are pretty much equals now. Didn't take very long either. WOW!! Cant wait to see you in Cajun Field next year. Ought to be a kick in the pants. HAHA!

Chuck, you might want to get the facts and not timelines. Timelines are for people that are trying to prove something that they have very little knowledge about. The discussion on inviting ULM came before Tech's entrance to the WAC and before the official vote took place. Tech's president made it be known then that under no circumstances would they remain in the SBC with the addition of ULM. Dr. Authement made it clear he would support the invitation to ULM in the last spring meeting. The same meeting Wright Waters made the decision to move the Women's Basketball SBC Tournament.

Your decree came after the discussion of the potential invitation of ULM. Sorry Chuck that it doesn't fit the Tech's version of history, but then that's not a surprise.
