So, realistically what does that mean for the MAC with so many bowl eligible teams? Only 4 or 5 teams bowling??

That's my guess. We have the 3 primary tie ins, and is it 2 (or 1?) secondary? Plus 1 more if NIU gets a BCS bowl. No CMU. Probably no Ohio or Buffalo.

We have 2 secondary tie ins. UB with 8 wins, finishing 4th in the MAC, will go to Boise or San Diego. Toledo as well. Ohio and CMU are in a tough spot.

Well, no slam intended on OU or CMU, but not sure those two teams are really "ready for prime time" in terms of playing well and winning a bowl game. If we get get NIU to the BCS, and BSU, BG, UT and Buffalo all in bowl games this year that's pretty durned good.

There are so many extra teams out of the ACC and PAC 12 I am beginning to wonder how all of them can be placed.

Jerry Palm has some very interesting, and TUFF matchups for the MAC. I am sure this will be shuffled after next week's games, but here is the MAC line up on CBS bowl predictions:

NIU vs Oklahoma State in Fiesta (B12)
Bowling Green vs W Kentucky in Go Daddy (SBLT)
Ball State vs Pitt in Little Caesars (ACC)
Toledo vs ECU in Beef O'Bradys (CUSA)
Buffalo vs UNLV in Potatoe Bowl (MWC)
Ohio vs Boise in Poinsettia (MWC)

I like the matchups and I think it will challenge us, can be a statement bowl season if we do well too.

I really like our chances with Ball State vs Pitt too.

And yet, we won a bowl last season. As did Ohio. 05-nono

But I agree that CMU is likely to be left out this season, as the numbers just aren't lining up as they did last year. At the least, I assume we can squeeze in a few valuable practices while we are waiting to hear yay or nay on a bowl.

Lot ot excellent games! I'm not sure about Ohio vs. Boisec. Is that because that bowl has 6th choice of a MAC team?

I thought Ohio was Boise St. And I hope BG goes somewhere else than Alabama.

Anyway, I expect nothing less than tough match ups for the MAC. The conference is only fair this year, and if NIU gets bumped up, every other team has to step up.

Last year's bowl games were a bit disappointing, MAC needs to have a good run this year.

RE: Bowl Eligiblity Count Down
I hope that we're able to shuffle the bowl bids around so the better MAC teams play the better MWC/Belt teams. It's not as fun to see MAC 6 play MWC 2 in the Poinsettia Bowl while MAC 2 plays Belt 3 in Detroit (I know it's Pitt in this scenario, but with three bowl eligible teams there I don't see how they aren't able to get a bid), and it leads to better games.
