That is exactly what I've been looking for for a very long time. It is always a great thing for the team to get the 2s and 3s some quality playing time and experience. I was very impressed with how the 2nd string offense with the fourth string running back was able to march down the field against EMU's #1 defense and score a touchdown. For being fourth and fifth string running backs (or fifth and sixth if you include McDowell in there...don't know if he is still on the team or not?), Remy and Pringle are both pretty good too.

BTW, is it just me or did/does anyone else feel bad for the EMU players? I've never felt bad about Toledo putting a whoopin on any opponent but for some reason, I do for the EMU players...except for Brogan Roback anyway.

I agree with everything you said. It has to be demoralizing to be on a team that is SOOO bad, year-in and year-out.

As far as Roback, he just seemed lost at times tonight. Had a lot of bad throws that were nowhere near anyone, but then he would have a nice pass. Whenever he has a bad throw and go to the sideline, he would immediately go to the WR. So he was either trying the blame the WR, or figure out what went wrong. But he just seemed lost more times than not. And if he was a real 4*, he wouldn't be at EMU, and he would have had at least 1 BC$ offer.

Agreed. It has to be tough to lose week in and week out, and play in front of an empty home stadium. Not to mention all of the injuries they had tonight. It seemed like their entire O-Line needed help off of the filed.

I've never seen a procedure penalty called on a victory formation play. Surprised they bothered to even throw the flag on that, but it is the MAC. That penalty actually prevented this from being the first game we haven't had more penalty yards than our opponent since the Florida game.

From "My View"
Quote:Look for the Rockets to have more penalties and yards marked off than the Eagles.

From me: Whew

Glad Campbell was wise to Roback over rated and pulled his offer off table. Way to much attitude, saw him slam the ball to the ground on sideline when he ran out of bounds on several occasions. Thought English might bench him, but he seemed the best they have. No way 4 star, well maybe for Eastern, I think you get an extra star or two just for committing, painful for the rest of the team

I did not think Roback played badly. Considering this was essentially his second game, he doesn't have very much talent around him and his OL was dropping like flies last night. He had to make most of his throws while being chased out of the pocket, and made several nice ones that way.

Dear Rocket Fans,
Your team destroyed us like everyone else. To start carping about how inferior Roback is is just stupid. When other schools were in the battle for his services, you were right there with the other schools trying to recruit him too. If, you would have landed him you would have been cheering like crazy. You didn't, so get over it and be mindful that in a few years he may come back and bite you. northcoastRocket said it best.

I thought Roback played pretty well all things considered. He looks like he'll be a good MAC QB. Certainly a nice position upgrade for the Eagles.

RE: EMU Game Thread
He wouldn't play for us because we have T.O this season, then Bama transfer Elly, Woodside, Jullian, and two more next season. Not because Roback is in inferior... I went to high school with him. Great sophmore season setting the SJ passing record with Norrils and the best SJ team ever. His senior season he had more picks than TD's.

And EMU won't beat Toledo in a very long time. Did you see our freshman runningbacks!!?

Roback has a lot to learn and he's getting playing time to gain needed experience. He needs time - time to learn and time from his OL, the later which if at a premium. The Rockets had nine QB hurries to go with three sacks. Hopefully Coach English can build an offense around him.

If Roback was truly a 4 star prospect, it was the quietest 4 star prospect in history and then to not get many offers. It seemed like he committed to EMU pretty early in the process. Maybe he didn't have that many wepons around him during his senior yr of HS, but St. John's is usually pretty good? It was hard to tell since he was running for his life most of the game, but I like our future prospects at QB. Hopefully he survives (physically) until his senior year. EMU has nothing to lose this year, why not put the kid in and see how he handles adversity.

Eh, they're decent. Terrible this year. Roback never won anything at Sj, just put up some impressive numbers for a pass happy team. But he's just a freshman this year, who knows, he could surprise a few in the years to come. Oh wait, he's at Eastern Michigan. Don't see that happening. But maybe, just maybe.

Been terrible for a few years now. Far fall from where they were from '05-'10.

RE: EMU Game Thread
SJJ was 11-2 with WR/CB Norrils (ut), C miller(michigan), RB/LB Kern (Miami), K Smith (ut), two offensive linemen that play at (Dayton), another from (Ohio Dominican), another at (Mount Union) and plenty of d2 and d3 guys in 2010 season. That team lost on a blocked punt TD to Whitmer in the regional finals.

In 2011 they were 7-3. Roback played out of his mind vs. Orchard Lake St. Mary's (small powerhouse in Michigan, and state champs that season), which was their only good win before falling off severely. Granted Central, Whitmer, Findlay, were playoff teams. Roback had a 5 turnover game vs. CCHS and their loss of play makers kept SJJ from making the playoffs.

In 2012, his senior season they struggled to 4 or 5 wins with the only players of note being OT Miller (Wisconsin), TE Kynard (Pitt), WR Allen (ut), and a senior now who just committed to Cornel on the D line.

He went from having tons of good players and an offensive line, to having a few play makers but not being deep at any positions. A 4 star guy that lost his stock after his senior season, who chose EMU over Miami probably because his sister is a Volleyball player at EMU.
