Creighton Has Already Sold 1900+ Big East Tourney Tickets...!
Some recent tweets have said that Creighton has already sold almost 2000 tickets to the Big East Tournament in March...! And the number is still growing...! Way to go Bluejays...!
In comparison, the most tickets sold by one school last year was 1800 by Syracuse.

makes sense given it's the 1st BET for them, and also the only one with McDermott.

Really? You think it "makes sense" (it's not astounding?) that it only took a week for 2000 tickets (and growing) to be bought by a fanbase that is 1500 miles away? Four months before the tourney...!

I'm not overly shocked quite frankly. I mean, it's their 1st one ever, and it's the only one with maybe(not sure) the best player they've ever had.

That's great news. Just to sort of ride stever's sentiment... Shocked? No. Pleasantly surprised yes. The real question will be if the CU faithful trek to The Mecca for their second BET.

so Creighton fans will be traveling better than syracuse fans? interesting, unless of course more cuse fans bought their tickets thru places other than the school
either way its a good sign

it's their first time. That's always special. It's also their only time with their best player ever.
Now like what Trephin said, if they have those numbers NEXT year- that would be when I would say it's shocking.

Can we say the same thing about Duke at the Dome?

A road regular season game is a lot different than the Big East Tourney.

Cant argue with Steven. The three new teams are still in the "honeymoon" phase. Lets see what happens in 2-3 years and when/if they don't do so well in league play. Will fans still travel on a down year? I don't know enough about their fans to say one way or the other. But this is one of best teams they've had so its always easy to travel and plan ahead when you are expecting to be good.

It's the same thing. It's new and exciting and the luster will wear off. No way that the game in the Dome is played in the middle of the stadium every single time and sell itself out like that. It doesn't stop the ACC and Cuse posters from bragging about it. Why can't we brag about Creightons ticket selling ability?

Congrats Creighton... they're a long ways from the Garden so those numbers are nothing to slouch at! Be proud!
However, comparing the upcoming tourney to past years and ticket allotment is silly... there were more teams in the conference the past decade than now; and there was no official requirement to sell, Schools were given a block of tickets, sell them or return them... General demand was guaranteed to fill the Garden so there was no requirement to sell. In regards to 'Cuse, everyone knows they took a lot more fans than 1800 to the Garden, they just bought tickets other ways.

Are we that desperate for validation? Really?
Oh, and the Duke/Syracuse game isn't getting played this time in the middle of the dome.
Frankly, I would have been more concerned if Creighton had not had a pretty big demand for the tourney this year. They should be wanting to go support their team this year. In a lot of ways, for a lot of folks- if they don't go this year, they would never go. If their distance isn't a concern for the conference in other ways, why is it an excuse here- or making it seem so much more amazing.

Desperate? They sold their allotment before the season even started!
The real question is why are you so negative about everything Big East?

I'm not so negative. how in the hell is it being negative when all I'm saying is I would have hoped that the Creighton fans would want to go this year to the tourney. I think to most folks in the conference, this isn't a surprise. The bigger question will come next year when it's not new and McDermott is gone. That's realistic.

In reverse order... No one said we can't brag. I think it's great. And without claiming how it will turn out one way or another, it will interesting to see year two.
I think we can say the same (and the only thing being said is that circumstances will be different year 2) about Duke.
But a regular season and tourney game are not the same thing. The importance, intensity, and likely interest/demand of the events should be different. Which probably is reflected in the face value of the ticket for instance.

This is what your answer could have been:
"Wow, great job by Creighton selling 2000 BET tickets in a week. I thought they'd do a great job with this because McDermott is an All-America and the Bluejays will be Final Four contenders this year, but they've exceeded expectations. Hoping they can duplicate this every year! Go Big East...!"
Instead, you decided to write a bitter, concern-troll paragraph. Nice job.

except I don't think they did exceed expectations.
1st time in the Big East
best player in the school history
maybe best team in school history
If they don't travel in droves this year, they never would.
I think if anything you are saying you are shocked they would travel this well. If that's the case, what was your expectations? And, if its because of the distance, when we've been told all along that's not a negative factor- you can't have your cake and eat it too.
