Clark appointed Temple VP and Athletic Director

PHILADELPHIA - Kevin G. Clark has been appointed vice president and director of athletics, Temple University President Neil D. Theobald announced today. Clark's appointment is effective Nov. 1.

Clark came to Temple one year ago as a senior advisor to President Theobald. He has also served as interim athletic director since May 3. Prior to arriving at Temple, Clark had been a former senior associate athletic director at Indiana, where Theobald had been the chief financial officer.

A veteran athletic administrator, Clark came to Temple after serving the previous 11 years on Indiana University's senior athletic staff, the last two in the role of senior associate athletic director of internal operations.

"Kevin's positions at Saint Louis and Indiana universities give him extensive first-hand experience in both the financial and managerial challenges of sports at the highest levels," said Theobald. "I believe he is exactly the person we need to take on the challenges our Athletics Department will encounter in the next decade."

Everyone is in favor of it, it's just a matter of logistics and politics.

It's good to get new people in key positions. They come in hungry and ambitious. The new AD is the pick of the new president and no doubt will be taking orders from him but also will have tremendous clout with the president. I like the fact that already they have floated some very good suggestions such as moving all of the sports teams to the main campus including football....

Good resume. Seems like a basketball guy....
