There is enough anecdotal evidence that marijuana use leads to increased appetite that I think chemo patients or others who have a wasting problem should be allowed immediately.

We can do more research and reverse it later if the anecdotal evidence doesn't prove out. (bet it will though)

There appears to be more than adequate evidence to support use for nausea relief and pain relief for terminal patients.

I would even go a step further and OK it as well in any instance when Marinol can be prescribed legally.

The downsides of Marinol is that it takes up to an hour after ingestion to be useful and while not fully studied, the medical literature suggests that many patients don't like Marinol because they become more intoxicated when the pill hits full effect.

The World Health Organization has said marijuna should be schedule IV like Xanax or phenobarbital. For comparison Vicodin is schedule III and the FDA wants to move it to schedule II because of abuse.
