Tough call here...
Clawson and Quinn will be sorted out by the end of the season.

That's absurd.
I said top candidates.
You take out the bottom feeders and that leaves you with the top tiers. Campbell isn't going to win it unless Ball State/NIU flop down the stretch. Solich hasn't taken a bigger leap this year.
So that leaves:
Quinn, team is 6-2 and a possible MACC appearance
Carey, team is 8-0 and ranked, but he recruited almost none of these players
Lembo, team is 7-1, but they lost to a bad North Texas team
Clawson, 5-3 and they have a shot at a MACC appearance, it's been awhile for BG to make the game.
If BG makes the MACC game, is it that absurd?

I think BG would have to win the MACC for it to happen.
If that's the case, then it's sad, but not absurd.
I didn't mean to come across as attacking your analysis, just an existentialist lament that if Clawson is still vying for COTY, then the MAC is absurd, and I want to go make like Sartre and eat my meals on the Eiffel Tower so I don't have to see it.

Which of these coaches will we lose? Would not be surprised to see Carey get some looks for openings.

RE: Coach of the Year
I see Lembo leaving, he has proved the most and this was his third (?) head coaching job.
Carey is still an unknown, he coached at small schools until he got the OL coach job 3 years ago. He was pretty unqualified compared to Doeren and Kill. He still has to prove that his success was not related to inheriting a team that returned most of its offense from a MAC Championship and Orange Bowl.

I would be shocked if anyone goes before Lembo..
Quinn is not going anywhere on one season
Clawson has been too inconsistent.
Both are losing a ton of players and will have to prove what they ahve next season.

I think Quinn will be back, but one season's success is all you need.. Look at Kent State last year.

The voting takes place before the MACC.

My vote....
1. Lembo - outside of the hickup at North Texas they've rocked their schedule
2. Carey - another Huskie coach = another winner...not easy to do and usually taken for granted
3. Quinn - started the season on hot seat and now his team is really hot
4. Campbell - survived a brutal early schedule and now still have an outside shot at a MAC title and certainly a good shot at another bowl game

What the hell does that mean? They lost both games. He gets credit for that? Not to mention those OOC games have zip to do with a shot at a MAC title. Give him credit for the Navy and BG wins sure, but in reality those games basically came down to one play coin flips.
It's either the Buffalo or Ball State coach, no doubt. Sorry NIU, but it doesn't take much to throw Lynch out there and tell him to do his thing.

I'm not expecting him to get it, but it is tough to go undefeated. There's only 8 undefeated teams left in college football.
Both NIU and Ball State were predicted to be at the top.
I think Quinn gets it if he takes his team to the MACC.

RE: Coach of the Year
Many MAC coaches have had only one good year. A big program wants the hot hand. Those who can write the checks don’t seem to look beyond what happened that year.

RE: Coach of the Year
Solich also lost to an awful CMU team and they probably aren't going to Detroit. Btw winning every game is not an easy task just because NIU has lynch. I don't think Carey is the front runner but I don't think there is a clear one.
