That's not Cooging It. UH athletics became pretty synonymous with absolute heartbreak and championship fails. Losing to UTEP sucks, but it's not like there was a national or conference title on the line. Nor were we expected to be *that* much better than them.

I've had the hardest time getting a good read on the Coogs this year. I feel like we could have stubbed out toe several times this year if not for the insane amount of turnovers the defense is getting.

I voted USF because I feel as though Coogin it is the equivalent of blowing a game we should win in some exceptionally weird way. I felt no shame in losing to BYU and do not expect wins v. UL or UCF. For me -- it wouldn't be Coogin it to lose to either team.

Southern Miss truly Cooged it. The lost to a terrible UAB team a couple weeks before they beat Houston.

Beat UAB, and Southern Miss is in the BCS bowl.

I mean losing a game against a quality opponent is just a loss. Everyone has that. Every time two good teams meet up one losses. If that's what Coogin' it is, then I don't see how it's insulting. Whereas losing when you should have won hurts and makes you look incompetent. Coogin' it came along(from local Texas schools btw, so I find it comedic that some U_F fan is trying to rile us up with it by acting like he knows what he's talking about) because we embarrassingly lost a game we shouldn't. Losing as though we were actually attempting to blow the game. The USM game might be able to be classified Coogin' it, but the reality is that they were a good team that ended up ranked alongside us that year. It was not a given game for us, so I don't see how it's Coogin' it. The Utep game though, we were a far better team. Undefeated to that point. Utep was the gutter of the conference. There was NO WAY we should have lost that game...yet we looked like idiots when we did. Losing to UCF or Louisville is not Coogin' it. In fact, they're still favored to this point. Losing to Cinci or SMU if we beat UCF and UL is DEFINITELY Coogin' it. And depending on your opinion of our team right now, if we lose to USF it could also be considered Coogin' it, though it would not be in my opinion cause I don't think we should be so heavily favored in this game, we're too young and USF seems to always be a threat to win a game or two they shouldn't.

If you consider UTEP "cooging it", then you must have had ENORMOUS expectations for the 2009 team. If you're going to play the "4 win" card, then you need to consider that UH lost to 3 CUSA schools that year, including Air Force. Perhaps we weren't actually all that good in the first place, unlike the 1979 cotton bowl team, the 1983 NCAA team, etc.

We created the "Coog It" reference ourselves. It's a self-deprecating term meant to endear outsiders to our "mythical" sense of futility.

Every school has little quirks in their history and lexicon. That's what makes college sports awesome.

We Coog It against USF.
