Coaches on the hot seat and replacements

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketba...-openings-

Rice

Current coach: Ben Braun

Replacement: Glynn Cyprien

Skinny: It's been a struggle for most of Braun's tenure at Rice. He went 19-16 in 2012, but hasn't had more than 14 wins in any other season. Last year, the Owls went 5-26. Cyprien is well known in the coaching community, with assistant coaching stops at Memphis, Kentucky, Arkansas, New Mexico State, Oklahoma State, UNLV and others. He's now an assistant at Texas A&M and knows the state.

He was hired as head coach at ULL, but resigned over resume issues.

I doubt he's a candidate here, but I do think that this is Braun's last year, especially with the new AD coming in.

Here's the other write up on hot seat coaches:

Braun had a long and respectable tenure at California from 1996 to 2008, but his time at Rice has been a mess both on and off the court. There haven't been enough wins, and there's been way too many transfers, and allegations of racial discrimination also put a strange cloud over the program, regardless of whether those allegations were rooted in reality or not. Bottom line, Braun has finished either 10th or last in Conference USA in four of his five years, and it was a little surprising that he survived last season's 5-26 record. Braun getting a seventh year seems unlikely if his sixth year goes how it's projected to go.

The discrimination charges were against Greenspan; not Braun.
