Should the all sports exit fee be increased from 500k
IF we expand to 14, there is a 99.99% chance it will be an all sports member. The new member would have the same 500k exit fee for all others. This does not make sense. Should the exit fee be raised for all member or should it be worded as any member leaving with less than 10 years in the league pay a 2.5 million exit fee.

RE: Should the all sports exit fee remain at 500k
Personally, I'm against any and all exit fees.

If a MAC school decides it wants to be somewhere else, they'll leave - even with a huge exit fee, and who are we to tell them that that shouldn't be allowed to do what is in their own best interests?

Furthermore, since all MAC schools are state institutions, all it does is shift public money to other public institutions. It's like a state to state income redistribution. It's a zero sum game.

They should tier the exit fees based on where you are going

G5 - 750,000
P5 - 2 Million

But those fees should only apply if you want to leave within 24 months

CUSA pegs it to 5yrs conference media revenue. Convert to that is about $500,000 now, but if the contract is upgraded, it automatically goes up in line with media contract value.

Or six full years from the official notification, minus the years after notification before the school leaves.

Since schools typically move chasing higher media revenues, its a distribution of a part of those higher media revenues.

The title of the thread, and the poll question are actually opposites.

No, $500,000 is plenty for a MAC school. Probably 2.7-3.0% of most MAC schools athletic budgets,

1,000,000 after 10 full seasons, 2,000,000 after 5 full seasons, 3,500,000 if under 5 full seasons. Stepping stones should not be free....

I agree, but double the amount that you said.

BYW, didn't Temple have to pay 6 million to go away?
