I'm going to do something that a sports team should never do....
Look past an opponent.
Sorry, but NMSU is dead meat at Cajun field. I honestly believe the Cajuns' third stringers could put a hurtin' on 'em. Not bragging, just stating what I believe to be fact.
Now then, Troy. They scare me, a lot. They may scare me less depending on what they do with ULM at Troy this coming Thursday, but I think regardless of that outcome, the Cajuns have reason to prepare for a war at Cajun field.
My take on the game is this. If the Cajuns allow Troy to stick around within striking distance until early in the 4th quarter, the Cajuns might just lose the game.

Troy is playing much better now than early in the season.... Defense especially...while still not great we did hold wku to 6 points in the 2nd half and held wku on a 4th and short to win the game. Our defensive front line was all over wku most the night.
Offense struggled some but we still put up 32 points.
104 yards of penalties didn't help with wku either. Clean that up and we could give the Cajuns a run for their money.

I think the game was won/lost over BP's choice to take the ball from the coin flip. WKU was against a 20mph wind for two quarters ( Troy never scored against that wind) then 4th quarter when Troy had to face the wind ..... The wind went to zero. Smart move on Troys part and dumb move on WKU's part and I think was the difference maker in that game

As a fan, you can have that luxury.
The team better be ready though... It's those struggling teams that sneak up and bite you in the arse.

I never take Troy lightly. They are a proud organization that has been down a bit. ULM will not be easy. USA will give us a game at home but I believe they will find a way to hand the game to us in the last minutes.

NMSU is having a rough year. Honestly, is there anything going on there that suggests an improvement in the coming years?

Troy will be tuff, but no more then beating WKU and ASU on the road in back to back games. Robinson has always gotten huge numbers against UL and he will probably do it again. That being said, Hudspeth is 2-0 against Blakeney and he will have the Cajuns ready. Troy can not lineup and play UL heads up on defense. Because they are not big, they use their quickness on the edges but they are soft up the middle and UL will pound them with the running game ,and keep Robinson on the sidelines.
UL will drop 7-8 in coverage and make Robinson dump the ball underneath. The game plan is the same as last season, punish Robinson when we can and keep Thomas in front of your coverage. As long as UL does not turn the ball over, Troy hasn't stopped anyone on offense all season long.

Yes, the Cajuns are on top of their game right now and you did take the last 2 seasons worth of games from the Trojans. 3-9 and 5-7 respectively. This year's defense does prefer a straight-forward style of run defense, so that'll fit well into the gameplan. Take notes from the WKU game: they had more luck bouncing it outside and the screen pass worked well. I'm not sold that the Cajuns are all that, at this point...we shall see.

You'd make a great leper.
Never anything constructive to add, only snide remarks and hot, raw turd throwing with your bare hand.
On second thought, the lepers wouldn't welcome you either.

Sorry, I didn't see that against WKU. I did see 2 quick ends off the edge and an interior DT's that love to stunt a lot. I'm not sold on Troy other then on offense. Blakeney still hasn't learned to play defense the last two season and this year looks to be no different. We shall definately see.

If the Cajuns do not come out flat, this game should be pretty easy. With the distractions of homecoming plus everyone patting them on the back they could take the Aggies lightly, but regardless, I still think the Cajuns win. I hope we do not look past the Aggies though. It would be nice for Cajun fans to have a stress free homecoming.

I hate to prolong a topic sparked by said douchey post, but since you actually added something of substance hopefully this thread can get pointed in the right direction.
I haven't seen as many NMSU games as I'd like, but the box scores say enough. Honestly they're in the first stage of a long, total rebuild. The best thing they can do is write this season off, get the young guys experience and PT, and put the best recruiting class together than they can. The stability of SBC football and an affirmation that they are here to play FBS and FBS only would help. I feel for them since Idaho went through a 5+ year period where the only constant was a new coach bringing in a new system. And it sucks to know that they're gonna see a lot of terrible football in the next 2 years, but hopefully they turn the corner in year 3 or 4 and become competitive.
