It's definitely an issue of trust with me...I'll gladly make an additional financial sacrifice if I knew for sure it would translate into what the majority of the fan base wants to see take place, but as long as there are "snakes" on the plane, it's going to be very hard for me to consider getting on board.

So you would not and will not contribute to the building of a football fieldhouse or even installing FieldTurf on a practice field (there are other similar-sized initiatives) because we can't get an OCS right now? I don't understand how that's any LESS damaging to UAB football than the actions of the Cabal...

That's not what I'm saying...I'm saying one's ineffective without the other. All of them are needed, but, the OCS is , to me, the most important component of the three, because that's the one that is going to increase the fan base and attract a steady stream of talented recruits. Heck, man, my high school alma mater has all three of them, the new stadium, the fieldhouse and the special turf of which you speak. That's what I want for UAB...The "total package"...Not just bits and pieces...Just asking, do you feel that just having, say, the field house or the new practice turf and not the OCS, will enhance the allure of UAB's football program to high-level or "impact" recruits?

It will enhance it a helluva lot more than NOT having them. And I think that is obvious enough to be non-debatable. I'm not going near BNB territory in saying Legion Field matters very little to incoming players, but I will echo his assertion that players spend much more time on practice fields and in locker rooms, meeting rooms, fieldhouses, coaches offices, etc.

Not only that, but if you want to eliminate a talking point for recruiters bad-mouthing us it's a lot easier for them to say, "They'll never get an OCS, they can't even get new locker rooms built or FieldTurf laid down." I'd rather give our coaches the chance to point to new projects - brick and mortar - as evidence that we are committed to moving onward and upwards in football.

Doing nothing is the worse thing we can do, and we've been doing it for way to long. If Garrison knew she was going to step down, she should have put the stadium on the agenda on her way out, then had Mackin waiting in the wings to add these two items once it got shot down. If we are going to do field turf for the practice field, it needs to be done before spring practice, and dirt needs to move before signing day. It would be nice to have both approved before signing day.

Wasn't Garrison ordered to not mention the OCS for two years by the "trustees?"...I seem to recall an article mentioning this...I'm willing to bet this was a factor in her decision to "retire."
