It is humorous to watch the community college tier 2 academically directional school in a mini tv market area with a very low yearly athletic budget in one of the worst conferences in the nation try to usurp this hollowed name illegally.

What is humerious? My vote goes to Tulane fans thinking the Big12 wants another private university because of it's academics! They are not interested in a poor performing AAC program that can't deliver more then 17,000 freaking fans in the Super Dome and is third in attendance in their own backyard behind LSU and UL! Now that's freaking hilarious!

Actually they are in the mix

The state law was in response to a lawsuit filed by Louisiana State alumni and ruled on by a judge who was also a Louisiana State alum. The law was simply an effort to control growth of our university. I grew up a Louisiana State fan but no longer consider myself a fan since learning the truth. There is probably not another state in the union that has laws restricting the naming of a public university. By the way, their name is not Louisiana State University, it's Louisiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical College. Try putting that on a uniform.

Same here. Long ago I was a rabid LSU fan. My dad worked for the LSU system but graduated from Tulane. One of my borthers was an LSU law school grad.

I graduated from then-USL and was always very proud of the school. It's a fine school with a beautiful campus.

When all this SHTF and I saw the power LSU brought to bear on the issue, they lost me. Wouldn't piss on 'em today if they were on fire.

Go Cajuns, go Wave!!!!
I know where y'all are coming from and understand how much it sucks what happened to y'all in the 80's, but y'all have to see it from our point of as well. Y'all needed us to except the UL name as well in the late 90's to get that tag again and the law was set up to keep any university from attain it by themselves. You can guarantee by who too. I'd rather y'all attained it the 80's and then we would of stayed NLU and avoided all this drama.

I would buy your explanation had ULM had not tried to use Louisiana first and then dumped the effort later. But I see nothing more then rank and file hypocrisy from said university and it's fans.

It's funny that you said "we can't do it without you". Hoffman said something similar to one of our administrators this past summer, stating the ULM doesn't want to lose UL as a conference mate and wants the two universities to stay together in the Sun Belt. I can't wait until ULM is nothing more than a distant memory in another conference.

Amongst how many? Not sure what you are hearing, but a 30,000 seat stadium doesn't sound like Big12 material to me and academics is only part of the picture.
