Troy is last in pass defense. Petrino WANTS badly to throw.
I'd be worried about this game if I was Troy.
So? StAte had Arkansas Pine Bluff and ULM had Grambling etc
Not not saying we are going to beat wku for sure. But other schools have had push over games as well.
Which is why I asked the question, "Is this legit...?" There is no telling where Troy truly ranks as of right now. I wasn't being disrespectful to Troy. The best way to answer that is to use conference only stats at the end of the season since everyone will have played everyone. Regardless if Troy is first or last in rushing defense Andrews is too good to contain all game. He will make some plays.
He was good last season and didn't see the endzone. CR was knocked out before the half...All TROY needs to do is shore up the safety play and it's a W.

Way easier said than done. We've had problems with our smaller corners too when matching up against bigger bodied receivers like muse from arkansas state a an example.

We better come out with our hair on fire offensively thats all I got to say. That and if the Defense can play a OK game and get a couple turnovers we will get the W.

I'm pretty sure there was to be bracket coverage on him that was blown by the safety to that side...just a guess, though. Hence, my comment about the safety play.

Fair enough. And I don't disagree about safety play. Hopefully that will be rectified this week.

RE: Week 9 in SBC-- 4 conference games
Georgia State at ULM
Playing at ULM can suck the life out of a team. Plus they aren't horrific even without Browning. Georgia State is improving, but not that much.
Troy at WKU
Troy is a load to contain and WKU is reeling right now. But Andrews is near impossible to stop and Bobby will have flayed the hide off of his team about turnovers and it's at home. Have to go with WKU continuing their up-down season and keeping the ball away from Troy.
UL at ASU
Liberty Bank Stadium is a tough place. UL hasn't necessarily matched up well with stAte recently. I see this as a lot bigger hurdle for ULL than many think. Not because stAte is a whole lot better as a team, but because of the match-up of styles on offense and defense.
South Alabama at Texas State
TXST is better in certain places but I think USA is a more rounded all-around team. I just see them putting a few more points on the board.

Troy at WKU: Hard game to pick. WKU seems to self-destruct at times but I am going to go with them at home in this one. WKU 35 Troy 28
South Alabama at Texas St.: I have watched Texas St. a couple of times on TV and their offense is struggling bigtime. South Alabama is probably the surprise team in the league to this point and I am going with USA to win on the road: USA 27 Texas St. 21
Georgia St. at ULM: I am assuming Browning will not be back for this one. Georgia St. is getting better. ULM 's offense is struggling, and I am going out on a limb here and predicting Georgia St. gets their first win: Ga. State 28 ULM 24
WKU vs Troy (a must win for both teams). Troy has no pass defense, WKU throws interceptions. I'd like Troy to win, but I'm going with WKU on this one.
USA at Texas State (a must win for both teams). USA appears to be the better all around team, and they appear to be seasoned on the road (but we are still only 1-2 on the road). If USA can avoid collapses, it should be a USA victory. I'll go with that.
ULM vs Ga State. Ga State hasn't beaten anyone yet. I'm not going to pick them until they prove that they can get it done.
ULL vs state. Pure toss up as the game is in Jonesboro. I have a feeling this year is not Ark State's year, so I'll go with ULL

Troy at WKU: This is a tough one. This game could swing several ways each quarter but I'll take WKU in a squeaker if their running game can control the ball. If Troy wins I would not be surprised at all.
ULL at ASU: Another tough one to pick. Broadway has shown this season that he can play with confidence but can also get into too big a hurry. A-state has been more consistent overall but I'm still not overly sold on their offense. I go with the R-Wolves on this one since it's in Jonesboro but home field's about the only extra advantage I see.
South Alabama at Texas State: TSU can run the ball. Throwing it? Not so much. USA is coming on like gangbusters.
If pretty much all WKU does is run the ball they will be in trouble... Our front line is pretty good as we are #1 in the conference in sacks.... If they are going to beat us they will need to pass.
Umm... if WKU hands the ball off and runs, wouldn't that mean less sacks since the RB would be the one with the ball? And if they are passing that means the QB is holding onto the ball which means there is potential for more sacks. Your logic makes no sense. It's backwards.
Also, remember: In Troy, forced fumbles without recoveries count as turnovers.

That's just crazy talk right there...There isn't much difference in turnover margin between the two teams so that's not that big of a deal. We turned you guys over twice last year and still lost. I don't care about any stat categories in this weekend's game except W or L.

Due to Big Lots U constantly interfering with the athletic branding efforts of the University of Louisiana @ Lafayette no Cajun fan will ever pick Big Lots U to win because of that.
The state of Louisiana has already established a difference between the two universities proclaiming UL@Lafayette as a STATEWIDE INSTITUTION and Bug Lots U as a regional college.
My picks are as follows: WKU, Louisiana, GaSt and South Al.

I'm not sold on GSU winning here but I will say they are getting better and better every game and I'm expecting them to win at least one SBC game before the season's end. I just hope it isn't against USA.

Georgia St. is getting much better and we could definitely lose. Looking back at our schedule though our losses aren't as bad as were perceived. WF was a quality win, as they have now beaten NC State and beat Maryland bad. Baylor beat Iowa St. 71-7 this past week and will do that to many teams, OU is OU, and Tulane is 4-2. WKU isn't a bad team either. Now with that said, our offense has been anemic, but with Browning coming back we'll see how things shake out.
