TRADITION!

Tradition is debatable...however, we need to do something concerning the current adhesive on the decals. I have never seen a football team with as many decals peeling off the helmets as we have had.

I'd love to try a helmet with the duke dog head on it. It could be a cool alternate. The all gold color scheme could help it look better on a purple helmet as the OP suggests.

I'd like to see a little more dynamic use of the JMU athletic logo.

Here we are again with bored people thinking up helmet concepts when we have great helmets. It's just never going to end.

Please no. There's a reason JMU has a copyright on a specific logo (just like every other school/company has a copyright on their logo)...so that some intern or person in a non-marketing/graphics department doesn't get ahold of it and distort or colorize it to make it look "cool." A logo is a logo is a logo. It is what it is.

I love the high gloss purple helmet. Not sure what logo would look best on it. Would like to see options.

That's entirely different. Marching bands are terrible. That helmet is merely sucky.

04-cheers

This. Yes, nothing says "football" more than a bunch of guys trying on different pretty little outfits every week. "Does this one make me look fat?" "Does this one highlight my eyes?"

Ugh. One away uniform. One home uniform. One helmet. Period. Impress on the field, not on the fashion runway.

I like the purple, but not a fan of the grey face mask.

What about a high gloss gold helmet with the JMU script like it is on the baseball hats in purple? Might be a little modern and a little classy/retro at the same time.

Like this on a glossy gold helmet...

Anyone with skills take a stab at that?

Sure, tradition and simplicity are great, but how about some advantages to multiple types and colors of uniforms? I'm not thinking about the whole "recruits will love new uniforms!" argument, by the way. One example is that Oregon uses their massive array of uniform choices to sell more fan gear and merchandize. They'll tell fans that this day is a blackout, next week is green, then white, then yellow, etc.

Would JMU ever go as crazy as Oregon, Maryland, or even VT? I seriously doubt it. But aside from some people grumbling about them not being "traditional" and spending more money to have them made, I don't think there are any disadvantages to having more uniforms.

The baseball hats are a ripoff of LSU, so I wouldn't highlight that. Especially since we stole the Duke Dog illustration from another SEC school already.

That's preposterous. Their dog faces to the right.

These hats couldn't be more different. First, JMU has a J and an M. LSU has an L and an S. Their colors are purple and yellow...ours are purple and gold....and the other dawg to which you are referring...you better pick what side of the isle you want to be on sir...because there is no dawg more fierce than the Duke Dawg....he's got a cape and a f*$%*ng crown on his head for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
