RE: 17 Misused And Made-Up Words That Make You Rage
I'm a grammar nazi. I love those.

They left out one of my favorites......especially in the Midwest I've noticed

In context like this,

"We are cutting acrosst multiple divisions."

Acrosst = not a word
Across - is the correct word

"A sell." No!!!!! It's "a sale." (noun) To "sell" is a verb.

That one drives me crazy.

And don't even get me started on "your", possessive, and "you're", you are.

Man, my wife says "supposably" and "I could care less". I've tried to explain it to her, but it's no use.

"I could care less" is a favorite around MT.org.

Try using irregardless in any assignment in college. If you are being graded on spelling or not you will be dinged by your instructor. Use irregardless in any legal document and it can have a negative outcome.

Espresso/expresso

What is wrong with this?

Expresso has a butt load of caffeine.

I highlighted my verdict on the word since you appear to have skipped over that part. But also noted, that it is, in fact, a word.

Can't have a list like this without having "loose" constantly being used in place of "lose". I would say that at least 90% of Internet postings misspell "lose".

I skipped over nothing. I highlighted your opening line which has "IS" capitalized. But use it if you like. The continual misuse of a "word" should not allow it to be recognized as acceptable for inclusion into a dictionary. Guess Merriam-Webster should think about "bling" or "schinizzel" which is at least recognized as slang. But some people use "irregardless" trying to sound more intelligent.

Because it is recognized as a word...and I trust Merriam-Webster over some dude writing an article on buzzfeed.
