vs. Blue Hoes

So horrendously awful, just bad

We typically have a couple OOC road games that are a distance to travel...why are you so freaked about this? Northwestern is great...will be VERY well attended. Vegas? there a cheap flights to Vegas all the time so we are planing on going there all 5 of us. I think lots of fans will go to Vegas.
Arkansas? They will be a very tough opponent. The board is always bitching about playing some strong opponents...there it is. A strong opponent.
So what's the problem? Frazier is absolutely RIGHT. NIU fans do need to show up at away games too.

Precisely. For everyone who dreams about bigger conference aspirations, just think about how all of those teams travel.

I guess I don't see the correlation much to a bigger conference and road attendance. Its more of a result of being in a bigger conference than a cause.

First, let me say I personally don't really care about the conference thing; just making a statement of what I believe is fact.

For those who think about the conference thing, traveling well is just one more element. There's home attendance, there's away attendance (in addition, attending bowl games), there's TV/Radio ratings, there's multi-sport success, there's level of donations, there's TV market (probably our biggest positive in this group)... There is just a lot that goes into making NIU more attractive to bigger conferences.

RE: 5 Home Games Again Next Year
People gripe about us playing perceived "weaker" teams...SIU, ISU, EIU, Presbyterian...etc. But has it occurred to any of you (and MD) that NIU can be perceived that way by the Marylands, the Alabamas, the Ohio States, the FSU's, Arkansas etc? WE are the "little guy" to them.
Everybody should have a chance...and it gives ALL the "little guys" an opportunity to take on a "big guy"...a tougher opponent and a chance to beat a tougher opponent.
It's not right that we stick our noses in the air and act like we're too good to play a Presbyterian or whoever and then expect strong FBS teams to want to play US.

So we play one FCS team a year. Big friggin deal. Don't be a snob.

And MD...for the love of GOD...stop it. You are acting like a tantrum throwing child who is spinning out of control. Take a breath. Put yourself in time out.

As HuskieBob said...ENJOY THE RIDE. You are taking something that can bring you great joy and turning it into stress & misery. Come on, man!!

As much as I've complained about the scheduling (for the past several years at least), in this case you have the 2 money games we usually have, but one of those is close by and not that expensive so we can easily go to the game. The third road game at least is part of a 1-1 this time, which we have to do to get UNLV here the next time. As long as they don't buy it out first.

Not a fan of playing out of state FCS teams but oh well. I do think Frazier will get us a better schedule going forward than we've been getting. On the whole it's another year with 5 home games and the only OOC game is FCS and not a good one at that. So that isn't good. But Frazier came in too late to do much about that.

The difference between NIU playing an FCS school and Ohio State playing a MAC school is the effect it has on SOS.

Ohio State came easily make up the SOS hit by playing a FCS or "MAC" opponent because their conference is a lot stronger than the MAC from top to bottom.

NIU plays an FCS school, and also takes a SOS hit. However, its much harder for us to make that up when our schedule also consists of Akron, UMass, and EMU.

Although, I entirely agree that if an FCS is going to be on our schedule... it better be an in state FCS school.
