We beat USM last year.

But we didnt fly.

Duh. Who the hell would fly to Crappysburg? lol

I'm not sure it's possible.

DJ white had 10 tackles and Ganus had 7.

However, Watkins had some huge stops for losses.

Watkins had 6 tackles and Landers had 6.

Looking up stats, obviously not counting wins at So Miss and Memphis, must have had a bus ride back.

UTEP 2009 would have been the last flight after a win.

I wonder if it became a mental thing, plane ride to a loss.

It could be that or a lot of other things

Steve Irvine gives game ball to DJ White.

Howard gets game ball from David Crane.

On Defense, have to give it to Jimmy Jean.
Special teams - Ty Long.

I'm just curious, did you watch the game?

Granted, he was very lucky several passes were overthrown where his receiver had him beat. Jean only had one tackle, but there was only one interception in the whole game, by either team. Jean had it, and it was in the end zone to take away points. UAB only won by 3 points. He also knocked a few passes down.

Who would you give it to?

He was burnt throughout the game. He got an INT because the QB tried to throw it past 3 of our guys before hitting his receiver. It was a very poor decision. I'm not 100% sure who I would give it to, but it wouldn't be him.

Sounded like our defensive game ball should go to the FIU QB

I think it's possible, but you'd have to ride with Frenchy.

Boise State definitely flew, but I'd be interested to find out where they landed. Maybe a long stretch of highway?

Boise to Hattiesburg is possibly one of the weirdest flight plans ever.

Most likely a flight to Jackson, which is about an hour from Hattiesburg.

Boise may have chartered straight into Hattiesburg though.

you would get there faster than flying if Frenchy were driving

Yeah,, I agree that JJ didnt have a stellar game,, just a couple of good plays mixed in with as many or more where he was getting beat deep. There were others who were more successfull in doing their jobs on D than him. ( Several who were worse too, unfortunately ).

Jean gets the game ball for taking 7 points away from them.

RE: New FIU / UAB thread since the other one is gone.
He only took 3 points away, as that was a third down play.(from about 3 yards out I think) The QB made a God awful decision and basically threw the ball right to him. He did make the play, but over the course of the game, he was not anywhere near our best defensive player.

I don't know everybody's name and number on our defense, but there were several guys either on the line or playing LB who had much better games than anybody in our secondary. We held them to under 100 yards on 36 carries, that is something very positive that came out of the game.

I would go with LB Daniel White (34). Ten tackles and he had to fight through much adversity to just get back on the field. His performance is a great testament to not quitting.

Okay, you convinced me. I'm taking the defensive game ball away from Jimmy Jean.
