"Stamford, Conn – October 11, 2013 – NBC Sports Group and Notre Dame announced a three-year agreement to annually telecast 12 Notre Dame Hockey home games on NBCSN. In addition, NBC Sports Live Extra will live stream all 12 games telecast on NBCSN and eight additional Notre Dame Hockey home games.

NBCSN will present more than 20 college hockey games this season including 12 Notre Dame home games, five Hockey East games and five Big Ten games. The network’s 2013-14 college hockey schedule is highlighted by more than 10 appearances by pre-season Top 15 teams. NBC Sports Live Extra will live stream more than 30 college hockey games this season."

Terry, how is ND's hockey structured. I can't remember. A little bird mentioned that there is some talk of UNC/NCSU/Duke possibly playing hockey at NC States arena, that also hosts the Carolina Hurricanes. Personally I don't see it, as the Canes are difficult enough for NC State to deal with but I guess stranger things have happened. Sort of like Louisville tentatively agreeing to add lacrosse.

Notre Dame just joined the Hockey East Conference. This is its first year in that league.

It formerly was in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) but that league was disbanded after three Big Ten schools (Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State) left when the Big Ten decided to sponsor hockey.

Hockey East is a great conference and apparently was the only one that didn't mind ND having its own, stand alone TV deal (the only school in the country to have its own hockey TV contract).

Good for ND to lock up this contract, college hockey is a rising sport and it's good that the standard for TV revenue grows. I wish Miami would still play ND, at least we're keeping up our rivalry with OSU...

Maybe someday we'll see ND-UConn on NBC ... those schools are the two newest members of Hockey East.

Thought the NDame-NBCSports hockey deal was announced shortly after Notre Dame went to Hockey East. The NCHC announced a deal with CBSSports last summer as a result.
