Most likely will see your team "roll over" the opponent. HTC at quarterback. For alums its a chance to see a nationally ranked team for a relatively inexpensive sports ticket. For students a chance to interact with thousands of people of your own age at one very large party. With the exception of Camp Randall, the horseshoe, the dome there are empty seats at most college games because of the economy, but not being able to sell 24,000 seats can't be acceptable to this program. WE need a change of culture. We have too many people thinking that this can't be that great because its happening at NIU. I'm a '78 graduate and what's happening is a dream come true! We are playing big boy football. The appeal of the game is not just the opponent its what we are playing for. Except for maybe Holmes and GN's Kaplan we won't get the regional media to respect us if we don't recognize what we have here. Huskie Nation, rise up and fill that stadium tomorrow. Again vs Ball State. WE are playing for the right to play in something called the Fiesta Bowl. It is a very big deal!

Look I am all for selling out the stadium and certainly want it to happen but EMU is probably the most unappealing opponent on our schedule and that says a lot considering how bad out home schedule is. I could see where casual fans may not want to pony of the cash (or time) to come see a game that could get out of hand pretty early and be rather lackluster. I expect a better turnout for the midweek Ball State game than this one.
So when Eastern Michigan played @ Penn State did the PS fans view Eastern as lackluster and not show up? How about when uMass played @ Wisconsin? Less than a sellout? Georgia State @ Alabama? Its culture. UMass and Georgia State are blowout wins on the way to the best record possible. Do you think that anyone in the Wisconsin athletic department refers to their fans as casual? Its a insult to refer to any fan as casual.

Yes.

The attendance for the EMU - Penn State game was 92,863, while the attendance for the Michigan - Penn State game was 107,884. That means that attendance was down 14% for the EMU game.

If that same 14% is shaved off of NIU's attendance of the 23,500 for the first two games, attendance on Saturday should be 20,210 to measure with Penn State's drop vs EMU.
Actual attendance was closer to 80k per PSU fans at the game.

No reason to bring "actual attendance" into the discussion. That's too subjective.

Agreed but it was estimated the same in several places.
Here is a PSU version of a Huskiewire q&A blog...

Some fans said there were probably only 80,000 actually at the game. Accurate, and cause for concern?by Bruce September 9 at 7:15 PM

Accurate and sure, it's a cause for concern. Just don't know how much Penn State can do about it in the short-term. So many factors, including the economy, better home-watching experience, ticket costs, etc.by fbodani September 9 at 7:16 PM

Anyways, I'm excited to see the changes around the stadium...especially student tailgating....and along with the good football, I think we will grow our fan base slowly.

See you at the game! 04-cheers

The Tailgating for Homecoming in EVERY lot was the best in recent memory.

Hopefully many of those will do it again Saturday...then walk-up and but their tickets.
